Hey guys whats the best thing for brightening up old ally surfaces like engine cases etc. I think I've got some Autosol, but is there any other, or better stuff around or your own brew that works good?
Mag wheel cleaner? I won't make it shiny, but will be nice and clean.I've discovered it's the same stuff as Jenolite,so good for rust too.Our grooming bay gets it in 20 litre containers.
that mazzarati chrome polish is great. Buy it at super cheap auto and it cleans everything. going to try it on caseyes bike when he gets down here this arvo. It comes in a cloth wad and you just tear a bit of and rub and wipe off. Brilliant
..ask Dodgy....the Bling King.... I use Autosol and very fine wet n dry and steel wool ( you can use real wool as yer a cuntry boy).... so your not bothering with the Ducati rally...wots wrong??? don't your leathers , socks and undies match???
Procoat East Tamaki. Do it once, never have to do it again = more riding
Thanks guys. Volty, those Duc guys piss me off, espec the HB crowd whoever they are. Nup have'nt reg. I'm a grumpy bastard at the best of times, and this has got on my wick. I took it out on my Duc today, and it was so much fun. Are you coming down for it. I heard that if you aint got a 1098/1198, you're not worth talking to.
i wet n dry em from 100 down to 1200...then polish..........with a buffing wheel......but as dodgylefteye says....get them shiny then get them coated....never have to do it again....
did my pre unit crankcases with wet n dry to get smooth then paid the kids to polish them with solvol to earn their pocket money back when they were desperate for pocket money
Ixion and Moto told me: We used to get up at 3 in the morning, syphon a gallon out of Dads Morris 7 1/2 ( we were too poor for the full 8), push the Norton 16h to start it, go down to freezing works rummage thru the rendering bins for lard and bone, ride home and using the recepie from the Green n Blue 'um make tallow polish..... solvol...bloody German rubbish..for polishing BF109 cockpit plexiglass.
Brought some of that Maserati stuff from Supercheap but it seems to have no effect. Brought some Megiurs chrome/alloy polish at the same time and that seems to work ok. Am using steel wool to apply it, then a finish coat of Autosol, which seems ok at the moment but looks like will need a few goes.
$20 for a buffing pad...$15 for the green polish........slip it on ya grinder and away ya go....
Wet and dry is the way to go. Start course and fine up before polishing. I didn't use a clear coat because it will yellow with time. The Yanks say to use Mothers Polish instead of clear. I've left mine as is, after the fine wet and dry. Each cleaning session, I spray on Simple Green Max and brush off with a running hose over the engine and frame. Seems to maintain the luster of the ali and paint ok.

How is Trina's flash GB? Have you got much work to do on it?
Warranted and registered now!! Tailpipe probably needs replacing, bit of rust on it and the baffles had gone. Had a temporary pipe inserted which quitened it down a bit and made it warrantable. trina rode it back from Te Awamutu to Hams on Sunday and loved it!! meant she had to take the long way home though with me following in the car
