Since I'm presently not employed i got too much time on my frigging hands hie hie but it makes for spending some time in the garage though. Just redid the front calipers on the cb750

This is the nice rosey rust i got underneath when it came off.

Once i got the rubber off i found this nasty white powder under there, suppose its some kind of chemical reaction from the brakefluid perhaps ?

One of the bleed screws is seized inside the caliper though so its going to get ugly to get it out and find a replacement, any idea if these are easily available? (im a total Newb can you tell? hie hie)

This is what the brakepad looked like nasssty.

A day worth of chemical paint remover and a rotary tool with a wirebrush, then zapped it up with some rattle can bumper chrome

being Honda you can probably get most of the brake parts new. Try Lloyd in Kingland ..formally Kingsland Honda...he has all sorts of stuff but opens when he feels like it.
Worth buying something just to pay cash and get a hand written invoice....
You might have to carefully drill it out and use an easyout to remove the stub.
    anyway.....back to the bathroom renovations.....

The nipple will be easy to find, you can get stainless ones if your into bling.
Getting the old one out and keeping the thread intact is tricky. Done my fair share of that.
You can warm up the caliper in the oven or butane torch if your married, then spray the nipple (the one on the caliper!) with Loctite Freeze and Release and go at it. Another way is to get a small strong screwdriver or small allen key and hammer it down the jacksie of the broken nipple and use that to twist it out, or the proper ezyout tool if you have one but they are risky- break one in the hole and I will teach you some good swear words to use...
The best way I have found is the allen key, as long as you get the size right or drill into it with a drill to match the allen key flat side measurement.

    good job alex!
you may want to inspect the pistons from the inside and make sure there's no rust or pitting on them as that's going to ruin the seals.
i usually dont succeed at this, lol, but to get any stuck bolt (bleed screw) the best method is patience. as dodgy said heating and freezing, or lubrication soaked overnight (you can fill the caliper from the inside so it gets to the underside of the nipple) is worth a try before resorting to brute force.

i've bought some stainless easy-bleed (have a spring and a ball valve inside) nipples of ebay and am happy with them.

Righto I got the #()*#^#$ bleed screw out. Easy easy seems to do the job. So ill replace them with fresh ones. Looks like my bumper chrome idea is going to scratched though. Sprayed some WD40 and it got the paint all sticky!? MAN first time any break fluid hits that its going to eat it right off. Back to the drawing board there I think. Oh well live and learn hie hie hie.

Dodgyiti I recon me, a butane torch and spraying nipples are going to get me devorced no time FLAT! *cackle* it did however work on the bleed screw (nipple) *cackle*

Alex, time to be fussy. How are the bores and pistons?

I haven't opened the motor at all. I rode it home and other than a minor backfire she rode very sweetly. Recon I wont open the motor unless I seriously have to. Mopping up all the outside bits is going to take a fare chunk of time and small change to start with. Im realllly hoping the motor will keep as is for a few months to come yet.

Sort of...keeps odd hours and the place is a bit of a jumble. Probably hanging out for a developer to offer him $$$$$ to build apartments, with a noodle bar and internet cafe.
For years there was an unsold CBX in the window....we called it " the pig" at the time....then it became collectable...

you can get rattlecan brake caliper paint with ceramic in it that if you bake it (kitchen oven) is resistant to brake fluid (if you wipe the fluid off quickly enough). other than that, just polishing the calipers gives nice shiny results, but not easy to keep them clean. there's of course the two-pot paint or powdercoating (my favourite)
