Time is a cruel mistress (Much like Madame Lash down at... no - forget that bit) who measures a life, then one day says "No more. You are too old for that". No ifs or buts, simply the realisation that some things can't be done any more. That day has come for the famous White Leathers (in capitals). Old age has come to the zip on the jacket due (no doubt) to some mysterious shrinkage that has been going on. The pants have not been suffering the same malady though! For those of you who have not had the undeniable pleasure of meeting the White Leathers (in capitals), I have placed for your visual titillation the pic below. [IMG][/IMG] It is a sad day to forsake them, as they provided many hours of entertainment for me (and Voltaire). For a laugh, I would sidle up to a black leather clad Harley type and watch him try to edge away slowly. An added bonus was that how could the average driver say (with a straight face) "No officer. I didn't see the person wearing a white suit on that white motorcycle".
wow... flash back to the late 80's
I'm not allowed to wear white,my laundry operator puts all my white clothes straight in the bin....that's if I was ever stupid enough to wear white. My custom made leathers shrunk too - I think they do it to promote return business. At least they were in my colour...black.
Perhaps you could get a stripe of white spandx inserted into each side. or I'm shore Jenny Craig could help!
Just one more time Mr Dadpole- we can commiserate with you at the rally, then like all legends we can put them to rest. Volty said he would wear his Smurf Racing suit if you wore your White Knight suit. Can't Ratti adjust them for you, it seems such a shame to give up now, it's only another 10 years before they come back in fashion- you can do eeet! Perhaps like wicke said, a strip of (ex)pandex around the middle? If you had only bought a Guzzi, all the pushing in full leathers over summer would have sorted out any unwanted err.. expansion issues. 'Tiss a truly sad day indeedy You can get a back protector that has a strong elastic kidney belt, kinda like a cumberbund
Sell them to Dodgy as he is as lithe and nimble now has he was when he was 18 ....well thats what Michael O'Flaharty told me.... Just one more time Mr Dadpole- we can commiserate with you at the rally, then like all legends we can put them to rest. Volty said he would wear his Smurf Racing suit if you wore your White Knight suit. oohh errr...a biker fashion parade....I could dust off the Balstaffs and pudding bowl.
I think vintage bikes should be allowed to be ridden with vintage gear...
I think the pudding bowl is what got Dadpole in this predicament in the first place. Some of my riding gear is vintage, bought second hand in the early 1980's and still in use, might be time to get some of it drycleaned Max- do you 'recon you can remove 20+ years of grimy Westie?
Of course Dodgy, no problem at all. I had just been wondering how to fund my next overseas holiday . . .
bring em with you chook. I'll have a look and see if they can be saved. Retro is very big (although perhaps not as big as you have become?) and I might be able to fix them so you can flic them for a huge amount on TM.
Better pack that sewing machine Ratti, busman's holiday
They are in good nick apart from the zip. They are light on the padding by modern standards. They were always a tight fit, but after I gave up my slave job and started my business the jacket shrank.
How on earth have you managed to keep them so white Dadpole? My dark red and black jacket is pretty much black and black/red now after only 2 years of summer usage from mint second hand condition. There was a Honda in that exact same scheme- was it the first of the Fireblades? The CBR900? Anyway it's post BFTP so who cares
they shall live on till eternity....or at least a couple of weeks.... immortalised as my current desktop wallpaper dadpole ...ill share in your pain (weeps)
Dodgyiti - Today 15:52 How on earth have you managed to keep them so white Dadpole? Being the saintly type that I am, insects and road spooge move aside when I approach.
