I'm going to move toaster on as I have too many bikes/projects. Good entry level to classic european bikes. 1972 R50/5 500cc German powerhouse developing over 30 HP. Same engine size that BMW won the 1939 TT* Possibly the most metal in its class. Does not suffer from flexi frame like lesser Jap bikes. One year only toaster tank/sidecovers. US import Oozes patina ( that means its unrestored in Ebay speak) starts and runs well. elektrik and kick start. Has completed Coro Loop despite being ridden by Dodgy. Been to Raglan and back too. Comes with Panniers that have no keys Rear rack Top speed is really about 120 kmph....probably more if your not in the 100 kg club.... Keeps up with Harleys on winding Coromandal roads.... Keeps up with Suzuki GS's ( in the wet on winding roads) They can be rekitted with up to 900cc and its " just ' bolt on.... $2500 ono. INCLUDES NEW WOF AND 12 MONTHS REGO.thats worth $300.00..and only one more year after that and its cheap vintage rego....so ngah. * but they used a supercharger.... http://www.kiwibiker.co.nz/forums/al...hmentid=180307
Out of interest, whats the red Isle of Man sign in the garage?
Its a tea towel ....see what happens when you like in the UK for 5 years....
Does the supercharger come with it? I liked my wee spin on her around the Coro loop, I took notice it was my turn to ride her when the big hills came along but.
Comes with Panniers that have no keys any suprises in when the panniers get opened?
i want it!!! might have to sell a zooooooki, any one wanna 750esd? lol
no flex??....."like lesser Jap bikes".......the difference between the "lesser Japs" and the BMW engineers...is the Japs kept trying something new.....anyway...does it do Crumpets?
"the difference between the "lesser Japs" and the BMW engineers...is the Japs kept trying something new.....anyway..." BMW did try a few things..... Uboat motors, WW2 Jet engines, supercharged TT winners, driven sidecar with reverse, I'll throw in a packet of crumpets to the new owner.
As TM would say........closing.............
I cashed in all my empty coke bottles and came up 8 cents short, plust I'm leading on that Norton...
Good luck with the Norton.... You can always spray toaster panels on the R100 and pretend...
I have a glowing warm fuzzy knowing there is BMW with less capacity and lower top speed than mine.I would like to go for a ride again with The Toaster...just to see a bike in my mirrors.
Sigh. I would so like that bike. If only I had abigger shed .
I want it pretty bad too Ixion, it's distracting. I'm sure that 900 of the 2000 views are mine Probably going to miss out, but I have set my auto-bit at the maximum I am prepared to go, thought long and hard about it and weighed up a std Norton + the tank and panels Vs that one so my top dollar reflects making one for the same mone. I don't have to have the belt drive which is the expensive bit but it is nice to have but not essential. It's the whole look I like. Good luck with Toastie Mr Volty. It is such a cool wee bike with a nice pattina, you should assemble one of you Triumphs as is, I really like that look as opposed to all prissy and pretty.
That Norvil makes the Ducati SS look like a practical everday sports tourer.... still anyone used to the 'rack' that is a Mk1 LeMans would love it. as you say all the parts needed to convert a standard Norton are available....from Invercargill... Sadly for me Toaster is sold... It will be shortly heading down to ChCh. Lots of flat riding there
