Yeeah. FINALLY got the GS550 to run Think the poor girl was just sulking because she was stuffed in a corner. Sat her in the sun for 15mins and hey presto. Sounds a treat too with the home made pipes of dubious legallity (they were on the bike when I bought it officer ) Looks a nasty, ratty thing at moment but just do minimum to get the thing on road. Just in time for winter. It's had re-built master cylinders and calipers, new head bearings. Just needs fork seals and a couple of electrical issues dealt to and away we go. Once thats up and running am going to either look around for another project to do or start work on the other GS550 and THEN take the ratter off road and do that. In meantime am going to make a start on the Vingage MX'er. Will put a post and photos of that up if anyone's interested. This is THE WORLDS rattiest bike.
Amazing what some sunlight will do to a sulking bike, GS550 would ,make a great pre82 junior race bike...............................
HAH!!.....there are a number of them out there racing...the last one I saw was stock standard.......and the guy was having a blast....
AAAARRRGH!! Stop it. The temptation is there, and it's so messed about with and unoriginal the original idea was to turn it into a road legal replica 70's F1 or Endurance bike. Mainly want to do something to promote the bike business so racing would be another option
You know you want too, Be great to have your GS, Cmoores's XJ and my LC in with BFTP stickets on and on the start grid Just got home from wee ride to the classic club, Took my race bike minus number boards and somr lights fitted( not quite going tho) have got a small wiring harness with battery and reg/rec half made
Progressing along nicely Picked up fork seals today, get those fitted tomorrow, fit newely machined discs and bleed brakes and then SO close to going on road. Just seat to recover, new tyres and i really MUST have a go at the electrics. No indicator warning light BUT it DOES scrole through the gear indicator in a most attractive manner
Just seat to recover Ratti , were are you? you are needed on a BFTP bike job I remember those gear position indicators, Flash little position switch on the end of the selector drum. My GN400 had one Good shes just about there, time for a welly BFTP ride shortly
Relax Jase. I am standing by with roll of duct tape in hand...
Colour co-ordinated tape I hope. Black would blend nicely.
nah, got some lovely day glo pink stuff I thought you might like
Not that I'm not a fan of pink, but in it's place.
sigh..whatever the customer wants. One day I'll find someone who doesnt mind bright colours. Apart from me that is!
No market for that in West Auckland Ratti. I think just your boot laces shown in Ranui would be enough to get you burnt at the stake.
I used to live in Ranui.Out the back of someones house in my bus. I LIKE my boot laces, they were my hubbys actually, He very reluctantly allowed me to have them, on the condition he could wear my boots if he wanted to. Ratti is one to push the boundaries a little. Its fun to nudge people and ask "why?"
Yes I knew you would appreciate the Ranui reference. It's probably not as black jumper as you remember it anymore, the kids have black hoodies now..
