After my issues with flat tyres I have been on the lookout for a little air pump. Went into Kathmandu during their sal to get a sleeping bag for the rally and found this bike pump. The label said good to 120psi. Hmmm, maybe it will be ok for bikes, if not I can give it to Diane for her pushbike. Well, I tried it out on the BMW and sure enough it pumped up the tyres nicely from 20psi up to 34/29. The body got a bit hot after doing both but no real issue there. Then the real test came last night. Picked up 600 cobblestones ($210 on Trademe- bargin!) in the ute at about 3.5kg each. Yes, grossly overladen again... The arse of the poor old girl was dragging with that load. Got out the little pump and got the air shocks up to 100psi to raise the exhaust off the diff So there is the test for you folks, 2+ tons of load and it still got 100psi of wind into the bugger. Tested and approved in the harshest of environs. Go get one, hopefully the half price sale is still on, mine cost I think $20 which is cheaper than other pumps I have seen (about $80 for a good one) but even at full price it is a good deal. It's small, light and comes with a neat bracket so you can stash it on the inside of a frame rail. The handle clips out to form a T handle. I will be bringing it to the rally, remind me if you want to see it- or need it... They only come in silver though, not matte black but I can live with that.
I forgot to mention, it is a double action, air goes in on the in and out stroke, but under harsh conditions I think it was only going in on the in stroke but not 100% sure, bike tyres it seemed to put air in on both strokes
One of those sounds like the go. Kathmandu always have a 'sale' on. They have been done umpteen times by the Commerce Commision over the years.
Half price from $ 59.99 to thirty bucks, I bought one for my mate and 2 more for the other steeds this morning. They put 200% markup on the stuff anyway.
