i went out for 180k ride this arvo on my dr650 with local mates/kb'ers tonyW and xrjohnny mostly gravel bashing up through waipunga rd, down darky spur, through little old waikoau village and on to tutira for a pie and a bit of fuel. next section was out the back of tutira and onto a variety of forestry and native bush roads eventualy led us onto waitara road, providing a 50k or so high speed gravel gp over to the napier/ taupo highway with glimpses of the mighty mohaka river along the way. the final stage was home on the seal up over the titiokura, a quik peek around the back of te pohue village, and the glengary rd to taradale, all in all a lot of fun to be had on a handy local loop, which got me wondering how many other bftp'ers have or have had dirtbikes or dual purpose bikes? ive been thinking about a bftp traillie....maybe an XR500A or XL500S or perhaps XT or TT500 altough theyre all getting up in values/price nowadays. i know wickle owned a TS400 back in the seventies, and rdjase has his natty ty250 what about all you others? tell us your 'dirty' stories

I ride my bike on loose metall roads - but I wear dirt boots when I do...you can't do it if you don't look the part.
My current dirt bike is an IT200 although it now resides in a few boxes waiting for me to put it together, the first Dirt bike I ever had was a DT1 motor in a YZ125J frame
i like the fibre of you fabric dodgy! ...a peared down airhead AND a mkIV hillman supertanker, both good gravel bashers no doubt

MT250 Honda, SL125 (and now another one I am restoring), Honda CR125, PE175. Also currently restoring an SL100. I can't really ride on the dirt any more after rupturing a cruciate ligament in an enduro. But I'm loving restoring the little thumpers and I think the 100 is going too turn out real well. Oh, and for a long time I towed my bikes behind a Humber 90, identical to the one up top, but with the rippled panels around the front. Good times.
