The story goes that when I first bought Bruno in Jan '07 I ordered a set of oversized pistons+rings as the cylinder compression was on the low side and the measurements revealed the bores were at the outer spec limit. I opted for 2nd oversize as it was twice cheaper than the 1st oversize (I know... I know...) Anyhow, bastards from www.alpha-sports.com sent me only 2 pistons (but 4 sets of rings), without informing me about it first, just sending me the incomplete order. It was only after my complaint that they responded saying that's all they had in stock and adising that they can't get any more through their sources. To be fair they did offer a refund, but only on the parts and NOT the shipping, neither to NZ nor return (and as we know shipping is not cheap). I ended up searching for the aditional 2 pistons across the USA, UK, Europe, Singapore, Hong Kong, Japan, Oz and NZ but with no luck whatsoever ("a discontinued item, with no leftover stock" was a general reply to my queries). I still had the option to buy a complete 1st oversize set but an additional $600 didn't really appeal as I had already spent the money on the 1st set. So, 3 and a half years later, just the other day... a batch of 5 pistons pops up on ebay! I jumped at a couple of them in ablink of an eye and they're on their way to papa So, unless the cargo plane crashes or something, before next summer ol' Bruno may be blowing a lot less smoke (and thus will have lots less "caracter", lol) !

Are the other pistons from the same manufacturer? A good reconditioner will match bore to piston anyway, and a good balancer will match piston weights. Things change even with the same maker regarding batches etc so keep that in mind.

yup dodgy, all oem. i only recently learnt the importance of matching piston weights (thanks to DD) so will definitely attend to that.
