Grr. Well, what I did to my bike today was to spend half an hour, at the gas station, fishing in the fuel tank with a bit of bent wire.

Cos, in the fuel tank, were the keys!

Yes, it IS an unusual place to keep ones keys. But, think how safe they are in there.

Yamaha has a locking fuel cap. And the key can be removed in the open or locked position. Wobble into gas station. Pull up, unlock fuel cap, leave keys, on key ring in the cap lock. As usual. Not as usual, as I puilled the cap off, the ring of the key ring snagged on the edge lip of the fuel orifcae. And pulled the key out of the lock. While the cap, and, more importantly, the bunch of keys, was poised over said oriface.

    Yep. Straight down the hole!

Oh, bugger. Lucky I have some wirew in my toolkit. Fish, fish, fish. What a frustrating business. Finally hooked them, and pulled them out.

In 50 years, never had THAT happen before.

I'm getting a Works package from Steve at Bevel Heaven, Tracker alloy Shocks and progressive front springs. The original Marzocchi stradas I put new on it in 1986 are leaking and by all accounts were not that great to start with.... and new discs....and rebushed swingarm.....yeah baby.

It will be very interesting to see what they are like, I went with Ohlins on the MHR and had RT rebuild the leaking Marzocchis so if I ever sell it the trainspotters won't tell me off

I found the Marzocchis on my Darmah very harsh as the spring rate from stock was to high

Re brakes, I've just done a 4 pot Brembo upgrade on the MHR and a mate has the adaptors on file for cnc if you ever decide to go that way

Pick up a new rear tyre for it this week and it's back on the road

What are the Ohlins like? Dodgy has a set on his Mk 1 Lemans so they must be good ( he doesn't worry about the tractor...er trainspotters.)
RT just revalved my rubberbandy SS and its much more stable on the rough stuff.

The Marzocchis were leaking and rooted when I got the bike so I don't have a direct comparison until I can be bothered swapping them around one weekend, but I don't get bounced off the seat on square edged bumps like I used to, next step is getting the front forks fitted with emulators and resprung

I came home, opened the shed and put away my pushbike.I saw some handle bars poking out from a sheet and knew my bike wasn't stolen today. I also saw some other things in my peripheral vision, but didn't look at them on purpose - they are like my cat,if she see's I have seen her, then she demands attention (food).Projects are the same....if they don't see me,then I don't have to acknowledge their existence.
