I though I'd start this so everyone can introduce themselves. Hi I'm Brent and I'm addicted to motorcycles... It all started back in the late 80's with my first RM80 (and racing BMX), then my second and third. (racing local junior motocross with the likes of the Tootell). then RM125... Bad accident (long story involving a bike landing on me) put an end to MX in 1993. Got my first road bike (TS185) at the tender age of 15 and promptly put it and myself of a cliff three weeks later... then moved through multiple road bikes GB500, GSX550,KH100, RG250, impulse and most famously Aaron Slight's RZ250 New Zealand championship proddy bike (that lets say was more factory than production; and had killed its previous owner and tird to kill me too). At the same time I worked after school in a local bike shop collecting large amount of bits and pieces including my first, second and third bucket racer (which I fell in love with the sport). Having a bucket sent me on a new quest for speed: did a year of proddy racing and played around on a 600 until the student loan out weighed my future earning potential. had a long stint off racing, mainly paying off my student load (though I kept my bucket racer and took it with me to different jobs around the country). 2005, i picked up a ZXR very cheap and went back streetstock racing. then 2008 stupidly brought a postclassic sidecar 1988 gsxr1300 (Stinky). along with building a new bucket racer based on a FXR150 chassis and my inferior tf100 engine (bluey). anyway that enough. Brent.
Must be my turn! I'm Neil, and I have spent all my working career in the Motorcycle industry, I was apprenticed at a Suzuki, Moto Guzzi and Aprilia dealer , which in my second year took on Harley Davidson as well. After I finished my training, I worked for a small importer, I also got my Sales licence (under the old system), and ended up running both the workshop, as well as the parts department after we where awarded the Triumph dealership, and in the meantime, I raced B.E.A.R.S, C.A.M's ,Buckets (was president of the bucket club for one year) and 125GP for 4 years at a national level, with the best national points standing of 4th, as well as 2 South Island champs, before spending 2 years on a TZ250. I found myself offered a job in Germany at the end of 2005, and lived in Baveria developing a two stroke cylinder from scratch (to suit small frame Vespa's), as well as operating a dyno, and each of those winters, I went to London and managed a friends workshop while he went on Holiday (In central Europe many bike shops close in the winter, as it gets to minus 15 for about 3 months.) At the beginning of this year I was offered more money and better opportunities to move 200KM west to Austria, where we have started a new operation, doing the same work, and looking to long term sustainability, and intend to branch out into selling more of my designs (exhausts, ignitions and such like, but I doubt I would design another cylinder, as the market is saturated now) The Kiwi attitude is a real foreign concept to most people over here, as they all like to conform (myself clearly not), but it holds me in good stead, as they respect someone who is not afraid to try something different.
