The Darmah now has new suspension, Works billet trackers set up to my weight and Works progressive front two piece fork springs. While I was at it I greased and set up the steering head bearings, and the swingarm. The forks were stripped, cleaned and new seals fitted. The Works set up is easy just have to set up the sag and your away. My initial impresson was that seemed a bit springy and soft... Decided that Wellsford up SH 16 would be a good run, motor was doing the odd spit and miss but I thought " its been sitting a while should come right" Got on the motorway and it did a lot of spitting....but I thought " its been sitting..." After I hit the Old North Road it started to run on one cylinder and I thought " its been sitting..." By the time I got to Hellensville in the cold wet fog I thought " there is something wrong here" Turned round and rode back to my Bosses place in Wheneuapai to borrow some tools....nice riding on once pot....not. He was out but his missus pointed me to his tools. After a couple of minutes of wire tracing I saw that the front lead and connector were not that well connected and a bit burnt. Five minutes later we were good to go, so back the same way and suddenly we were sorted. I can't believe its the same bike, it rides so nicely, if it hits any lumps it does not even notice...awesome. It goes around corners with such precision and wants to go faster as well. I was always led to believe Ducati's had hard suspension and thats how the Italians do it.
good stuff volty
sounds a successful campaign then john! ive been out today with tate and wickle and mob from hb/cc over to taihape and back fantastic day out,40 bikes in all ranging from harleys, cruisers classic jap and classic brit etc, a few adventurers also tagged along to keep the rest of us honest on the gravel sections! temperatures were a bit low in the first leg but no snow about like last year, gretna pub was the destination at taihape and we celebrated ringo stars birthday with a pie and a pint home leg was pleasant with a stop in at timahanga station to see a collection of old...er, collectables? and a chance to see the old woolshed in full swing with all eight stands working flatout...aparantly a rare thing today the ride finished with beers, coffees, and piping hot stew at the classic club by the time we got home id ticked over 330kms, but hard earned kms they were on that rugged road. am feeling totaly revived now as it was getting on for two months since id last rode and cabin fever was near set in! suffice to say im all amped and rearing for more rides!
