yip, and all i can say is its a sh!t ass job but rewarding (made my last seat and other bits over the years); =cj= & muddy have had some more luck of late.
but it can be expensive (about as much as buying the finished product) and requires time; but you get what you want...

To get the best result you really need to make a female mould first; and polish the f##k out of the inside. then lay your actual fairings in the mould. well Thats how John Britten did it anyway...

I'd be looking on TM for classic bits or there is often a guy that sells resin (80 for 4l) then you have to find the glass & gel coat, look in the boat section.

but if you are keen, I've got an old set of TZ125/mt125 (cicra 1970's) that you could make a female mould off have a look at my old bucket photos for the green one with the white frame or rg50. or a newer rs125 top (92-93 on bluely)... the new new RS125 (2002) one is painted an ready to go, so not quite so keen on doing it all again.

O.k. before anyone says anything; I've got a shed full of old sh!t..... i know..

if you want to learn a bit about it, google boat building; there is sh!t loads off information.

use it as a "plug" i.e. to make a female mould off (with glass), then glass the finished item...

    and
    google the steps for images.

    Note to self:

Step 1.Use no. 8 wire to creat main skeloton.
Step 2. Bend chicken wire over no.8 wire skelaton to create shape.
Step 3. Use some kind of material to stretch over frame to create a clean surface.
Step 4.Cover material with a release agent.
Step 5.Cover outside of frame first and release when dry.
Step 6.Layer inside of frame and release when dry.
Step 7.Join the two pieces together
    Step 8.DONSKYS

to answer your question regarding paper mash, I've never tried it myself, I generally use foam (high density surf board foam) but i wouldnt know where to get anymore of it these days. or mdf board and sand/cut/plain it to the correct shape.

but it looks like you have the right steps in your list..
