Hello Folks! You'll see my name pop up every now and then here (and I've been skimming through some of the older posts). All the bikes I own currently are pre 1990 build, all of the tuning fork brand, mostly GP strokers (TZ's of v250, 350 and 750cc) and one four stroke (OW01). They pretty well much make up most of my most wanted bikes (YZR500 excepted!) Whilst one of them is road registered I dont do much road riding - more as a means to an end to get to Puke when I'm instructing at ART ride days. I've got about 25 seasons worth of racing under my belt and the last 8 years or so I've been able to slot in having a ride at an international race meeting of some description to keep things exciting. I do most of my own mechanical prep work and over he last few years have been working on how I can get my race bikes working better in terms of set up, expecially in suspension and engine plus also how I can ride the bike better. I suscribe to the varmint theory. Varmints are attracted to shiny things!!! Just bolting on a shiny bit of kit is not the answer usually. A well set up standard bike is better than a badly set up bike with all the fruit and until you can get the best out of what you have, there is no point spending money on better stuff. So if you are talking 70's/80's two strokes, bike prep, tyres, suspension, engines, riding skills, racing etc, I'll most likely post at some point if no one minds. Malcy
Welcome to the ranks of the BFTP there malcy25.Nice to have another Yammy man aboard, Looking forward to seeing you everywhere at once on the forums.
Hi there Malcy Welcome to BFTP Nice collection, What year/model are the TZ's? Is your TZ250 a reverse cylinder (U?) model ? Thee was at awesome TZ 750 and a reverse cly 250 at the posty GP I saw last year or maybe the year before that. I raced last year and had a big seizure in the 1st race..........Spent the rest of the day driving home to get spares to do the opening BRM/Pacific round the next day I got YZR500 last week, Shame its a model tho lol Your adviice will be most welcome when my LC starts going back together, lots of new bits for it as I raced it virtually stock for 3 years and NEED more power, handling and brakes now Jase
Jase if it was a yellow black U and yellow black Kenny Roberts TZ750, will be mine. There are only 3-4 TZ750 getting any real use in NZ. Mine, my brother's and a mate who has 2.
