Just invested in a new Makita Die Grinder. I said invested, because they're not cheap. I decided to replace some of my old 1/4" burrs with some new 6mm ones. The agent I bought the grinder from had these available in various shapes, the largest listed at $95 each. I sourced a set of 10 Desic tungsten carbide burrs plus a wooden case, for $179. These are good quality bits at a very decent price. Ideal for porting ali or steel. Here's the link: http://www.trademe.co.nz/Business-fa...-306893756.htm
King chrome ratcheting ring and open enderers. The Cyl nuts on the TZ are quite hard to get a socket on to. Are velllly nice. Not cheap, just like all good tools are.
I needed a pop riveter, and bought the cheapest one I could find at Bunnings...under $15.I'm a bit surprised - it's a Fuller and made of steel.I didn't want one of those cast alloy ones that break after the 2nd rivet.Anyway,as opposed to you armature mechanics who want quality tools,I'm a professional and my first choice is cheap.
My general philosophy on tools is if I'm gonna use it regularly or something has to be accurate, I buy quality. If accuracy of usage levels are low, I gets a cheapo!!
I bought some gear for my new job, a suit, and some smart casual shirts and pants.....tools....pfffft. Old London building site ditty: " the working class can kiss my arse... I've got the foremans job at last"
a job voltaire...bloody hell.......and a suit to boot........will take some adjusting to doing something after all these years.....
Yep...I hear razors are available with more than one blade now???
It may also come as a shock (!) to discover that some are using *electric* shavers now . . .
3 is enough......so who you working for?
You probably all have this tool already as it's a must when working on old bikes (as I have discovered...) but I got a 6mm Re-coil set today. Paid $85. I thought it was a good price. Was it?
if you want to go cheap on the razors I guess you can buy a 5-blade razor and use just 1 blade at a time... lol
Pfft. Real bikers shave using a German jack plane.
You need a jaw like Clutch Cargo to shave with a jack plane.
I got a gift voucher for my birthday last year, with specific instructions to buy something I could use but wouldn't necessarily "need". Buy something for the pure luxury of having the choice. I looked at various options, and eventually bought a Dremel kit. I'd often looked at them but wondered if they were too light for serious workshop use, but a number of guys on several car and bike forums had mentioned them favourably, so I took a punt. What a winner! Wish I'd bought one years ago. Got some extra accessories as well, which has added to it's versatility. Brilliant device!
Picked my lathe up last weekend. Fairly small and VERY prehistoric. Definately BFTP elegible mmmmmmmm Whitworth threads non of your metric rubbish. Just called my dad in Blighty and he still as his Whit spanners Going to be busy this weekend making stand for lathe with my new welder. Small ARC / TIG jobbie. Once lathe is up and running then I can build tube bender. Oh, also building sandblasting cabinet.
