    12-15 grand for an Ambo

Mine owes me 5,500 could spend a grand and get the tank fixed and sell it to some rich turd for his lounge room or keep riding it in the rain

That Hoggily Skirtster in a Featherbed looks loverly

Do you think they will get the same level of outragous prices this time around? The recession has been digging away at people for another year..

I hate the fact this type of thing pushes prices out of 'our' range because let's face it- BFTP ride our bikes*

    *When they are running

So... should we have a BFTP lunch there before so we can pick the sh*t out of them first? We will need Ixion for the Brit side of things, whooh 18 grand for a T100SS...yeah right, Volty is sitting on a goldmine, or some sort of mine. "Geniune Replica" whoever wrote that should be selling real estate

Just had words with Br Bob about this- he is keen. We is going to do a ride out to the auction from his machine shop.

Who's responsible for the blurb? He needs to be dragged behind the Trophybird. 1956 Norton 99 650? I don't think so.

    ....land mine....
I didn't read any apart from the outrageous numbers.
.....I'm only going to get my Triumphs ridable, I did a couple of restorations and now can't be arsed ( translated...as soon as you used them they are no longer perfect).....not interested in trailer queens.

hiding in some shed or games room by people who buy bikes like gold coins because riding them is damgerous and devalues them. Probably to be sold to other "investors" like me with my R90S in the front entrance under the birds nest in the non existant ceiling Bird sh*t is a preservative eh?

I think you get a better class of punter at Webbs....sitting in front of the PC with a glass of Pinot Noir is just not the same....

If they were bought for an investment,I wonder if they have done ok? Like, are they worth more or less than 3 years ago? By the look at those prices they want to recoup loses in other areas.

In the mid '80's I worked for a guy who was into classic Mercedes, and he was pretty stoked when he picked up a mint '64 220 Coupe for $16,000,reckoned it was going to double it's value in a few years. After the '88 crash it was worth half what he paid for it.

I have made money on old bikes but mainly it was a fluke. I know if my mates give me a hard time for paying top dollar for an old bike or car then I'm bound to make money on it when it is time to sell.

The main value of vehicles is how much you use them...bet you'll never see any of them on a BFTP run....feck'n museum pieces....

I've always been out of step with what is worth money....problems of the bottom feeder.By the time they fall into my grasp they are worthless, and when I'm finished with them, they are still worthless.A Triton with wideline frame and T110 engine, with all the fruit - a cafe racer when everyone was riding choppers? I found some of the parts scattered around a wreckers shop after I sold it,the people I sold it to had no idea what it was.Rickman Metisse, what's that? Cheney Triumph?...?? I had a hard time trying to sell them, and in the end had to swap them for something else.Other bikes I've picked up on the cheap are not quite so extreme, but a TS400 is now a sort after bike, and I'm sure the XLV750 will be a rare find in 10 years time.I just couldn't wait that long...there was an airhead around the corner.

Your mate with the Merc had the right idea, just the wrong timing. Those Finny coupes had stunning looks and were virtually handbuilt; they are worth big money these days . . .
