Who/what is 'Blast From The Past ?

We are a bunch of individuals who have a common interest, namely riding and sharing tales about our pre 90's motorcycles.

We ride once a month. Our rides take 3 - 5 hours including stops and are generally held rain or shine.
Been for 2 group rides this month. When was the last group ride/meet for BFTP Auckland chapter?? When is the next one???

    "Who are we????"

A bunch of sods freezing our bits off right now. You have a point about getting out and about. My sorry excuse is that my reg is on hold (not that that should stop me). Some new tyes would help.

Murray, I would love to arrange weekend rides in my twisty back yard but circumstances have changed and my weekends are spent with my g/f who makes the 240km 3hr round trip to see me. So my riding is done during the week. Would be happy to do some twilight runs when daylight saving kicks in but for now it's solo like a westie mum.

Or if anyone is keen to skive off work one weekday I will happily do a run. Also any of the BFTP crew are more than welcome to stop in during a weekend run, I will do a round of cuppas and may even have bikkies

Reality is, riding Highway 22 and the other twisty routes around here during the week is far better than the weekends anyway, no traffic, no weekend warriors on their superbikes trying to crash on every corner. I rode from my place to Huntly last week and never had a single car in front of me the whole way, bliss...

i've been riding to work all month...nearly got blown off on the Mangere Bridge yestereday....so today took the car.....watched the hail stones out the office window....car....mmmm...warm ...bike ....cold....brrrrr.
Skiving is now a thing of the past....all right for you hippies....whens the first crop of veges due?

Sounds like we should toot ''shave and a haircut'' as we come down the drive, and fumble with the side stand for a bit Dodgy....

Things are going to plan for my riding,so I'm not getting too frustrated yet.Twilight rides sound good, from down here anyway.I should introduce you the the Te Anga Loop over summer,as an option to the heavy traffic of the Coro Loop.

Weekends just seem to evaporate these days.

I occasionally get asked "what are your plans for the weekend?" Truth is, I don't bother making plans much these days. I sometimes make suggestions. Few are implemented. Between a Year 13 daughter's extra-curricular activities, my various other domestic commitments/obligations, and utterly cr@p weather, my bike hasn't fired a shot or been exposed to the elements for almost six weeks. I feel ashamed . . .

And I was informed this afternoon that I'm apparently accompanying the lovely Mrs Headroom to a charity auction in Waihi on Sunday. Oh, goody.

Weather needs to improve though, at least the stormy weather has uprooted any loose trees and branches lately...

Twilight rides I think is the go. Daylight saving means meet at Mercer or Huntly around 6.30 then an hour of scooting around the Waikato's northern twisties and finishing off with dinner at either Raglan or possibly Te Kawhata and then home which would make a decent mid-week pootle leaving Mr BFTP free (and a bit more receptive) for weekend job lists

The twilight mid-week thing I think will work especially around November when everyone is booked out on the weekends.
So on that basis who would we have as starters for it?
Easy for the North Waikato Crew maybe an early work finish one weekday for the Auckland Mob makes it doable especially if you think you need to finish work 2 hours early- that means one day's annual leave can get you 4 twilight rides- and you don't need to go to a Webb's auction to know that is good value

Hard to feel motivated about riding at the moment though, another rainy day here again.

Your such a grub cmoore, just when I thought I couldn't respect you more you come up with Provideawhore!

I was parked up outside that place one Friday night and when I went to leave on my Thruxton two of the drunken female patrons thought it would be fun to cram themselves on the back of the seat when I fired it up. I'm too old to know what to do in those situations these days

i had a major shut down of the building when we were adding the new top floors...so i had to spend the night there a few times...the things i saw happening in and around that place will never leave my camera......and as for the hotel accross the road...i will never lose that image of the topless young lady drying her hair while sitting in the window...with the room light on behind her....mmmmmmmmm.....then there was the two couples that came back to there room at about 3am...lights on....curtains open.....clothes disappearing............
