How did someone find that out? By mistake?

The Wife gets annoyed enough when I take the dishwashing liquid to put a tyre one. Actually puttting a tube tyre on is pretty easy....I once tried a tubeless one and it was a beeatch.
I thought old vintage stuff was beaded edge....Motu....?

Very interesting idea. Thanks for the link Bender.

He probably could have made the plastic bag removal a lot easier by letting some of the air out of the tube!

I watched the vid with no tone and unless something very clever was said I thought the process seemed a bit PITA. I mean, what's wrong with lubricating the rim edges and using the tyre irons (if that's what the tool is called?) ??

Tyre levers scratch up the rim was his point I think. I have never had a tyre that easy to push over the rim. Love to see him try a deep dish Borani rim eh Italofiles?

A piece of green garden hose, sliced and three tyre levers works for me on spoked alloy rims for removal, fitting is usually a lot easier...althought not as easy as getting Cycle Treads to do it.
Whats the tyre place in Drury like?

The main guy at Drury Tires is Mike, who Anthony headhunted from Cycletreads when he opened the bike division a few years ago. Probably one of the most experienced motorcycle tyre guys in Auckland. IMHO Mike knows what he's doing, and he's good to deal with. I realize this reads a bit like an advert, but I like dealing with him.

I've ever only seen those tire levers used together with protective plastic half-moons mounted on the rim edge to prevent damage to it, but I guess if you don't have those protectors then yeah using any protective device would be better than damaging the rim edges

Well,if you are into protecting rims you can get all anal like - but to me rims are at the cutting edge of tyre removal,I am in the dominant position, and I say the tyre goes on,anything that gets in my way needs to be submissive.

100% with Max here . Mike, of Drury Performance Centre is brilliant with tyres and mechanicals on bikes. My old girls rims have been double powder coated so I;ve got to be fussy who looks after em when tyres need to be changed.
Mike uses special bits of rubber on his macine to protect the clients rim.

Any decent machine made in the last few years has nylon rubbing blocks in the fitting heads to prevent wheel damage
