Why thank you folks. Caseye suggested I should poke my nose in here - quite a nice place you have here - love what you've done with the place...

Hmmm, do I qualify as a member of your esteemed Group - for the riders of "pre '90 bikes"? Well my XV1100 was first registered in 1990, but manufactured in 1989 - I'm in...!

So, a little about me. I love my Virago - had it around 7 years, and don't ride it nearly enough. I love the "chopper" styling, which is no longer the fashion in cruisers, the fat-fendered "Boulevard" look has been the fashion for many years now. The step-down seat is ideal for a short-arse like me, and the cruiser riding position suits my riding style and ethos.

I'm very much a weekend rider, I don't get nearly enough time to ride. I have a small 24/7 business that has grown at the rate of one employee a year over the last five years, and it takes up too many of my weekend hours. My wife and I try to get away on the bikes for a week or so perhaps twice a year (she has a 250 Virago), and we enjoy exploring the South Island. I'm scheming to make the North Island within the next year or so...

As my business has grown, I spend huge amounts of time at the computer, and perhaps spend too many of those hours on KB. For those who don't know, I'm Senior Moderator, and spend many a happy hour either holding (or smacking) members' hands.

When I do drag myself out of the office, I ride and socialise a fair bit with the Dunedin biker crowd, although most of the local social scene is organised through the Southern Rider website.

Thanks for the invite, glad to be on board.

    Cheers

    Ken

Welcome. Does having a senior mod around mean we have to behave. Some BFTPers might struggle with that.

Can I recommend you paint your bike bright yellow? It's a stately colour and I think I've just about convinced Voltaire to change his new Norton from that ghastly black with gold pinstripes to good old yellow.

Bender, after you have painted Voltys bike, I have a bit of pink left over from doing my boots. You could use it to add some tasteful detailing.

Welcome Virago. Ignore the Philistines with their oddball yellow and pink colour schemes. Everyone knows a proper bike should be white...

You can always spot the ex-mod, folks - he's the one with a chip on both shoulders...

    Welcome Ken,
We are doing a tour for the Burt Munro this year, so if you want to join in at any stage of the run then write it in your calander.
For a while there were 2 mighty V-twin XV's on BFTP runs and hope to have them both on another one or two in the near future.
This group must be like the wild west for you, no moderation, just bikes and bike nutters of the kind that weild tools and some of us even know how to use them

Funny thing is; when there was all the nagging about having a classic bike section added to the main forums, it was already was, and still is more active in here.

Oh, Mike's the name, I have a bunch of old Guzzi's and the odd (arn't they all?) classic BMW because I'm too dumb to be able to fix anything else
