The time has come to sell the Ducati 900SS..... prices have dropped quite a bit in the last 2 years. Can't see it going for much over $6500.....

    There are 228 Ducatis for sale.........theres even a 916 for 8.5K....

as a matter of interest I looked at some others:

    Moto Guzzi - 41
    Triumph-301
    BMW-178
    Harley- 629

    Then the Big Three:

    Yamaha- 1349
    Honda- 1947
    Suzuki- 2006

I can only conclude that Moto Guzzis are quite popular and no one likes Suzukis

    oh and Norton-3

The Missus might have to wait for her new kitchen a while longer.......

Moto Guzzi have a factory smaller than the R&D department of most motorcycle brands, hence they leave that part up to the owners

They were never into mass production which for me is the appeal. Hand built by pissed Italians.

One of those 41 Guzzis for sale is mine, the other 40 are crap

I still have some friends out West who can get you what you want for the SS, whats it insured for?

There's also a 916 with only 22,000km on the clock and some service history, with an ask of only $7,800 ono. Holy crap, the depreciation is terrifying. The market seems to have been quite unforgiving with some bikes, even if they were highly regarded when new.

By comparison, any guy who bought a '90s Triumph Thunderbird triple will be smiling. Those things still change hands for upwards of $8K with average kms. Ok, they were a pleasant enough bike, but really, were they THAT good?

In my (insane) opinion, a good 916 is worth getting. I think they will be in the "collectable" bracket soon.

Yeah Moto Guzzis were hand built. I watched them doing it. I asked the Production Manager at Mandelo why all the lathes were different brands. He explained that every now and again the workers went on rampage and smashed up the machinery so they bought what they could to replace it. That was the reason that they were building Benelli engines at Mandelo. The Benelli workers were into the sabotage in their factory as well. There were Sei engines being built as I watched. As that seemed to stop the conversation we enjoyed our vino and pasta at the ristorante across the road from the factory and spoke of other matters. One thing he did tell me was about one Moto Guzzi V twin that had been re-engined with a Norton Commando. The logic of that escaped me but he assured me had seen it. It still bothers me. But maybe not as much as installing a Moto Guzzi into a Norton but hopefully no one has done that.
