Our neighbours wife has a Benelli sitting at the back of their place collecting rust He has said it is time to go and with her permission wanted us to ask if anyone may be interested, I could pass on their details to you.
Anyone fancy a suicide mission?
I'm regretting this already - any idea how much?
An some say I need help!
I used to have 2, 3 legged dogs and a blind one. I just have a soft spot for physically challenged dogs that noboby else wants.
Not an ideal project really. The 2C is a bit of a lemon and since the revival of Benelli there have been no parts manufacturered for the old bikes and even the revival bikes have shoddy parts back up. Assuming the tinware is all there and good, the next issue is where to get all the other bits. Not something I would consider without quite a bit of research first.
I Postie raced one for a year or 2.... the previous owner got upset when I rated it as the worst racing motorcycle I'd ever owned. You can sort of make them go okay with close ratio boxes, good igns, big carbs, porting etc. if you were lucky, as fast as a stock 250LC! A good leson in how not to build an italian RD200 (they are only about 231cc and 5 speed!) Pre mix - no oil pump, and 18 hp even with bigger carbs and RG250 pipes.....
I'm regretting this already - any idea how much? Don't do it..... " The cheapest part of a project is the initial purchase" " Tis not much more expensive to rebuild the wheel of a Vincent than a Bantam"
I'm starting to feel negative vibes here, at least Malcy only said it was the worst RACING bike he'd ever had so presumably he's had worse ON THE ROAD. Haven't heard anything from owner yet to get some more info so unless I hear back today I'm not bothering anyway.
not being negative.....just two strokes made by defunct companies in Italy don't fill me with confidence.....but it could just be your cup of tetleys....
It can't be any worse than the TS250 I've got On the + side, I had a shuffty at the UK Benelli forum and there is at least 1 other in existence I was really looking at something as a doer up that was a bit out of the ordinary as promo for the business.
I was really looking at something as a doer up that was a bit out of the ordinary as promo for the business I still have a Solex moped in the shed....put a basket on it and call yourself Grenville..
Now you ARE being silly
