What happened to the old Mag.....? Reminds me of a scene in Spinal Tap.... The band was started by childhood friends David St. Hubbins (Michael McKean) and Nigel Tufnel (Christopher Guest) during the 1960s. Originally called "The Originals", then "The New Originals" to distinguish themselves from the existing group of the same name.... ...yes it is a quiet day at the office ....
completely lost.........
Ya been sniffing avgas Volty?
Old MAG was NZ version of pommie MAG. New MAG is GKW. I think an attempt to be everything to Everyman. Seems official new MAG will be very law abiding and respectable (and respectful). But some (and I think the homonymic gentleman is one) are unhappy with that. Hence the multi MAGS. All clear now I'll try to get more when I see Ann next
It's a pity no one likes Hippies anymore - once upon a time I was in boots and all for anything that impinged on my liberties. But ever since tree huggers were derided as shit stirrers,I have lost all interest in helping other people for my own causes.
I see Dangerous Bastard is back....I got two green blings tonight......its just too easy........
I got taken to a movie a while back called Bloody Dirty Hippies. It purported to be about hippies but it was really about communes in Nelson with a fixation on naked chicks. Didn't understand hippies at all. There aren't many left most of them grew up and got jobs as accountants and such. But Kiwi hippies were quite a lot different to US hippies They were more like an early version of trustifarians. I saw the director afterward he was quite young I told him he missed the point he didn't like that.
Before the last election everyone who was left wing was to be burned in hell - and now they want us to save them from a right wing government - now why did I see that coming?
They talk of Billions of Dollars of blowout on the news.....where's that going to come from?. I just can't bring myself to vote for Labour....last election I struggled to bother..... in fact I can't even remember who I did or did not vote for....ummmm....I know it wasn't Greens, Moari or ACT ( Fecking Roger Fecking Dougl ass).
No,I can't remember who I voted for either - the most important thing is my vote helped no one else.I used to vote communism,at least then you could see your vote on the table.
I don't think you vote left and right here....just who is the least incompetent. I am working in the city and take the same route to work I did 30 years ago to tech.....change....yes.....for the better .....er no. That new twat Mayor has visions far beyond his (our) incomes........I do recall that I did not vote for him or Banks though..... Still don't know what happened to Old Mag..... I suspect the flush of idealism wore off pretty quickly....bit like leaving home and discovering Mum and Dad were not so bad after all......
For all the hiss and roar of the hippie movement I think it was more of a fashion and musical trend. A lot of great causes they had, but the Vietnam and Korean wars went on until the powers that be wanted, the Japs are still studying whales at an even more furious rate and the trees still come down in the forests. The only way to make change is to gain a seat of power. Pity the process of doing that usually corrupts all preconceived ambitions. MAG is a splinter of what was already a small (non hippie) movement and NZ is too small to slplinter what are already minority groups.
Wise words Dodgy....they don't belong here ....Don't forget Kombi vans.....
The late '60's and early '70's was an era of change,it was great to be there and be anti everything.
The masses are too pacified now to want of change or even question it
