Check out this new toy. Don't know the cost, but the technology is amazing. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZboxM...e_gdata_player
Those are wonderful things. I first read up on them in the late nineties when the things were megabucks and took all day to print a small item. Think of the fun you could have...
if that machine was a bit bigger I could clone Bruno...
It is very interesting technology and will certainly change manufacturing methods. But it's not quite as wonderful as some pretend. You can't provide anything like heat treatment ( eg no hardening, tempering) and you can't control crystal structures or anything like that. So no good for crankshafts, con rods, gears etc. Good for stuff where what you need is just mass, no good for strength
they should scan a woman and see if they can get a 3D model...........or a DD Model............
Back in '99 (as they were starting LOTR), I was at Weta studios playng with their computer toys. They had a neat little hand scanner like a bar code reader that mapped faces etc and rendered them on to the computer. With that, we could go around scanning boobies and 3D printing them. I sense a new business opportunity.

Had 1/2 a day building a hydraulic bearing press. Be a boon to the garage, I have a couple of awkward jobs coming up,including getting swinging arm back into the Matchless, which apparently is a pig of a job. Also a couple of steering head/yoke assemblies to fit new bearings into.
I rejected some of the Mechanical duct work that arrived for a large project, told contractor he neded to change it to this.."supplied picture".......he is doing so.....and in a week i will have my parts oven for baking..........
