No cmoore she was and always wanted it to be known that she was New Zealander. Born here raised in Oz and then to France, Europe and then the UK where she was seconded to the British SOE.A bloody cool customer if ever there was one.
The Krauts hated her with a passion and the price on her head was the most for any allied spy EVER!That Bitch Von Clarke would not allow our Govt to recognise her deeds, bitch is too nice a word.

Could not agree more, she was a truely, great women, a hero. I read Peter Fitzimmonds book a few years ago, amazing, and we do not have the grace to acknowledge her efforts, makes me ashamed to be a Kiwi!

Nancy said she always was a New Zealander and kept her NZ Passport. I think that is in the full interveiw from that link in my 1st post. She certanly had a busy life, maybe there just wasnt enough Nazis in NZ

I have been meaning to read Peter F's book since it came out. Have you got a copy Al?

No sorry Jase, was Napier Library, "old cheeses" library card! I normally read during the odd air travel that I do, not that I do "odd" air travel! I meant on the odd occasion that I do air travel! But it took me several trips to get through "Janis Joplin'(apparently several guys' did that in no time at all!) Still "blow's me away" that Nancy had to sell her medals to stay alive!
    Vive La Nancy!!!

cmoore what I said is what "SHE" Said, she never renounced her NZ citizenry and always made it known she was first and foremost a Kiwi. Not some wishy washy notion that because she was born here she had to be and therefore should be.
TOO late now though, comrade Helen made sure sure was snubbed while she was alive.
