You've all read/head about the All Black....er New Zealand ( All Blacks is copyright) jersey fiasco.
I'm so over Rugby....these days its just a busiiness...a business that can get free money from the Govt....er us....to pay for daft things like throw away plastic canoes that cost 1 mill.
    anyway....

Addidas have found out the hard way what I have suspected for a long time....Kiwis are buying more on line as the perception is they are being ripped off locally.

I find these days I rarely go into bike shops as I don't fit the customer criteria of buying a bike on HP and spending lots of accessories and service.

Who buys on line and why?
My reasons are, its easy, convenient, usually quick and cheaper.
I landed some Ikons from Aussie for around $500.00, at least $150 less than locally, and I'm sure Aussie bike shop is making a profit.

I was self employed as a sparkie and JA Russells ( well known electrical supplier) were giving me a 'good' discount on cable......then I found I could get it off Trade Me....delivered for less....told JA Russells....apparently the 'big companies' get the discounts....and free trips overseas etc.
I found I could buy most of my materials cheaper off TM and as far as JA Russels were concerned their business model was not history.
They are not alone with this attitude.

    Volties foggy-can't-go-ridin' rant over.....

JA Russells??...we only used them when we were stuck.....they had everything...at a price....i can remember getting discounts on cable of 85% off trade.......made you wonder why they bothered with trade prices at all ...........i would be too embarrased to tell you what i have received as gifts from suppliers.....

On line........Im not actually bothered with the Adidas pricing issue.....if it is too much don't buy it.........all companies sell at higher prices where they can don't they?......think beer at rugby/cricket matches......i will buy locally because i can look at what i am buying, however with parts then it is fairly easy to order on line as you already know what you want...i have also found the service to be awesome...returns etc.....

The "Retail" on cable is OTT ! It must be if you can 70% to 85% off retail when I look at the dockets when I get stuff

I am a culpret of online purshasing
but thats because the stock in this country is so small
so if you ask for something from the shop that is a brand they supply they will ring the wholesale who will say sorry dont bring that one in

also most of the performance parts for scooters are in europe

and also....when you buy locally they are just going on line and ordering it for you from the same suppliers anyway!!........although red baron didn't charge delivery bacause they must have a standard shipping system between them and Aus ......everyday stuff..

I'm surprised that the Electrical " wholesalers" survive and there are so many....probably down to their 'loyalty' schemes...
mind you when I'm working for 'the man' i don't hunt out the best price for the customer...just whatever is easier + 30% ( minium) and out it goes.
    Ultimately the consumer pays....

I've been buying parts and accessories on-line for fifteen years, with genuine bits coming in at less than 1/2 the local dealer's price in most cases. The risks involve finding reputable overseas suppliers, ordering the correct items and being prepared to consolidate smaller orders to reduce freight costs where possible.

I've had very few disappointments with stuff I've bought on-line. Overall the successes far outweigh those few transactions that weren't so great, especially since the suppliers made an effort to correct the errors.

I don't buy on the internet much - I go to sales and get things cheaper than from overseas. OK,so I have to wear an orange MX jersey because no one bought them and then they get dumped for less than half price...just a cross I have to bear. Shop soiled, damaged packaging...all for good prices.

as an example..dremel bits are 16nz$ each.....you can buy from the states for 2nz$..........as long as you buy a few at a time the $25 shipping is covered and still cheaper then buying locally.....

My Spidi jacket was $400 at Motomail, that was a hell of a lot to pay for a jacket over 10 years ago....but it was marked down from $900. It's been very good value for money, but wouldn't have been for what they wanted for it before sale.
