So who is off to this...? I've been having a look..... The missus even gave me the nod....thats a worry. But got a busy month at work in November....have to talk to the boss...
yup.......goin again for the fourth time but at a more leisurely pace this time........8 days round trip last year..........gonna take the full 2 weeks this time.........gonna get the catlins, manapouri power station, milford sound and takaka hill in this time............i believe wickle and dieseldick were makin noises about it a few weeks ago
Yeah.............we have booked the crossing over and 4 nights accommodation in Invercargill. We plan on taking 2 weeks and doing the Takaka Hill and Catlins too. Looking forward to catching up with my nephew in CHCH who works at Kelford Cams. He will join us at the Burt Munro. Good to hear other clan members have now decided to go too.
linky to Site; http://www.burtmunrochallenge.com/index.php Still working out if I have a time slot........ Are the ferry prices as per the Burt site? I'm planning to go budget on this one....tenting,brewing tea, cheese and crackers....well crackers anyway.I saw them cooking road kill on River Cottage the other night.....if it smells good its ok to eat......mmmmm Possum....
ask for group bookings when you book the ferry............mention the burt and they give youa 50% discount between certain dates around the time of the rally as i understand it............about 150 return for you and ya bike from memory
I have my fingers crossed for this. A definite yay or nay will be closer to the event though.
I have done a spreadsheet on fuel use, camping and food.... The $60 for camping/event tickets and FREE TEA.....make it very attractive.... I'd like to go over some passes, the Caitlins, up the West Coast, try a few ales along the way....

Camping for me too. I find it means you are not tied to a tight schedule. Cross the Alps to avoid the rain etc.
