I've read a couple of times (and can't remember where) about a Loctite gasket sealer that will dissolve if it gets into oilways. I'd like to use some when I reassemble the Peril but no-one seems to know what it is. Has anyone heard of it and if so, do you know the product number?
There are a few Loctite products which do that. From memory they are 510, 515 and 518 which are all anaerobic. It's the silicon-based gasket goo which is a concern, although I've used the 3-Bond product and it's very good.
Many thanks
518 Master gasket is what i use for that reason I have used 3 bond which is also very good but I find it a lot messier and harder to remove when you take things apart again
Bender - but no-one seems to know what it is. Did you ask at SuperCrapAuto? They always have knowledgeable staff.
