Triumph Poker Run ..how retro. booked in for ART day, $120.00 for AMCC members...$160.00 for non members....some places left in G1 and G2 for slugs like me.... I joined up for the Bucket Racing ...already saving $40.00
I did Novice Slow at Puke ART day today. This means I was in the slowest group, suited me as I've never ridden around Puke before. For $120.00 you got about 5 20 minute sessions with three instructors circulating and giving feedback and showing you lines and cornering as well as lunch consisiting of a filled roll, pie, piece of fruit and a water bottle. In the Slow Novice group there were about 15 peeps of various ages and abilities on an equally varied group of bikes..... 250 learners thru to Ducati 748's and an MV Augusta 1000. Once I got used to the lines of the track I found it not too bad with the only tricky bit being the haripin at the end of the back straight.....bit tight ... Highpoint...finding the rev limiter on the Thruxton....passing an MV Augusta, Ducati 916 powered Monster and not being passed by a Ducati 748....and hitting redline in top on the back straight....around 190-200 kmph. I had one blinding lap where I passed a lot and was not passed ( apart from the instructors)...and even grounded the peg on the hairpin. Conclusion: good bang for buck and the guys in group 3 and 4 are mad, will probably go again ....
Next ART day on December 11, filling up fast. I've just booked another slot in the slow novice group as the Triumph only does 200 kmph. Its $175 for non members , membership is if I recall about $75.00, then its $120.00 for the day and you can do Bucket Racing too. There were some people there with non leather two piece zip together suits.
Hi guys, will be back out instructing in group 2 at next round on my OW01. Couldn't make the 30th October date to ride as I'd just done K2 on the push bike the day before. legs a little wobbly to be riding a big grunter the next day....Al
Volty - if you are doing 190-200km/h - group 2 may be okay for yiou as well.
My mate timed me.....about 1:30.......I really need to spend more time on the lines as i got a bit carried away with " how fast will this thing go...... I didn't get a lot of feedback from the instructors as the real noobs really deserved their time more. I might do another session of Group 1 and see how I go.

Bender, was 2440m of climbing! Am looking forward to riding the OW again, but I haver a squirt on the TZ350 again on the 13th all going to plan. Only it's still not gether....but I have everything I need apart from time!
Hi there Malcy..........have done a few control days at puke without having to use a back protector as i dont have one.............just read the rules on the AMCC website stating they are to be used........is this rule enforced and if so do they hire them out on the day or do i need to purchase one............Cheers
They check the gear on the day, no back protector no ride. I got mine at Motomail $99.00
