Why Honda called it the Superdream, I will never know. Just when i think i have the cb up and running, something else pops up to bite me in the butt. It had a slight miss in the left cylinder, no problem must be a faulty spark plug. Buy new spark plug, same problem now getting worse. Mmmm, maybe the coil is on its way out, buy second hand coil, same problem, getting worse and sometimes swapping cylinders. CDI unit? Test unit, no problems there. Fuel problem? Carbs had a clean so should be ok? No. Pulled carbs apart and not too bad inside except a bit of corrosion on the float jet. Now the carbs need overhauling and i have just about had enough of this bike, the axe in the shed is looking pretty good about now!

    Pulse generator ?

If it's swapping cylinders unlikely to be carbs or coils

With a single coil it will be waste spark, with both plugs firing at the same time. If swapping sides it will be firing on the plug that is easiest to fire - I'd be looking at the leads first.....and double check those plugs - you didn't just put them in without checking the gap did you?

if it's getting worse over time that's a good sign - it means it'll die eventually and then you know what it is ! (positive thinking, lol)

I find with the Ducati that it misses on one cylinder after being laid up for while.....no amount of riding around the streets works.....have to take the plug out and clean it in petrol....then it fine. Other things I have found over the years are as mentioned.....leads....plug caps.... plugs....STALE PETROL....... rode the Ducati for about 30 kms in the country on one cylinder only to find on removal of the tank the ht lead conductor barely touching the coil metal insert.... oh and poor connections to the coil both LT and HT.

Pulled the carbs apart again, cleaned them up again, checked gap on spark plug, all good there, coil is operating fine, checked spark at spark plug, no problem there. Still got a miss and falters often at idle and under acceration. Maybe an air leak somewhere, how could i check for an air leak?

But you still haven't checked the leads - check them with an ohm meter and tell us the result.

The leads are built into the coil, and are working well, as my sore arm can attest to, I swapped them around to see if it would make a difference, same left cylinder plays up.

You need to do a secondary resistance test on the coil, this will bring the leads into the test as well.

plugs, get some new plugs. Since we changed to unleaded plugs either work well or fart and cough....

Gone through 3 sets of new spark plugs

    um....valve clearances......
Air leak could be hard to find ..they used to say get it to idle and pour oil over the joints and see if the engine note changes....
    head gasket.....
might need to do a compression test to rule out gasket and valves.

secure a chain to it and attach the other end to a bouy.......

Tested the primary and secondary wires

    Primary wires
    Green 0.4 ohms
    Yellow 0.8 ohms

I could not get any readings on the secondary wires.

Then that could be your problem.
