Anyone on here live in Masterton.....maybe would like to check out a XR400 for me.....I asked for more info with some pics....and I got " runs well, no poroblems"..sort of depends whether my XR200 sale goes thru......you never know with TM.
Try junkmanjoe on here, he knows dirt bikes and is a really friendly character, PM him and see what happens. I can expect to see you out at woodhill soon then? I'll bring the camera....
Been a couple of years since I was at Woodhill.... My Son likes the idea of my KDX200...... he'd like to do some more MR trail rides....the Waikaratu beach run is a goodie....80kms. Is Junkman joe a Masterton local?
I can wander down if nobody else more qualified puts up their hand. I know bugger all about XR400s though. At least I can count the wheels and do the usual earhole and eyeball checks - and watch the sellers reaction to specific questions.
You may want to be wary of this seller. They have a Volvo. Also note the dog in the pic does not change position in each shot. You can't trust someone who stuffs dogs and uses them as garden ornaments.
I've sussed out directions.... http://maps.google.co.nz/maps?hl=en&...-8&sa=N&tab=wl Heres some tips on buying a vehicle I have gleaned.... Ask the seller why he is selling. How long has he owned it. When was it last serviced. You watch for signals like touching the chin..... hands in pockets.... looking away..... ( see those CSI programs pay off in the end) I'll give him a call when the bloke who bought the XR 200 turns up....its had a lot of maintenance done on it since I saw it was sold.....all the things I meant to do a while ago....

"I've sussed out directions...." Useful....
Motu - Today, 17:50 Silence - the bullshit they spin to fill the gaps are worth more than 1,000 words and 19 pictures on TradeMe. Back in the early eighties I used to repair and flog off bikes (10 - 15 per year), so I still remember a few of the old tricks. My personal favourite was when some cocky git turned up and copped the line "It is too much power for me, but you look like you can handle it' How I used to laugh (silently) as they couldn't not buy it after that...
need and want...the first rule of sales....
Well XR 200 buyer rang me and sounded so nice I'm going to drop it off once my account tells me too. Then it ring up Volvo dog man and try and extract info out of him...... XR400...same cycle parts, bigger mota with discs.....yum.
My Son likes the idea of my KDX200...... If you want another one, Think a mate has one for sale, or was thinking about selling his. Looked pretty tidy and he isn't a thrasher. He hasn't used it much in the last few years
If you want another one, Think a mate has one for sale, or was thinking about selling his. Looked pretty tidy and he isn't a thrasher. He hasn't used it much in the last few years they are nice bikes....I'm sort of leaning to the XR as I could use it for the odd adventure ride..... Got a lot of biking genres to cram in before I have to buy a cruiser or other shaft drive bike...
So who is coming up to Auckland from Masterton with room on a trailer........ I got Grumpy from NZMotorcycle movers and he said " Do you get holiday thru the year...coz we don't....mid Jan" and the nice chap at Captain Transporter who explained that he was on holiday..... Might have to drive down......
