Got my knee down....

Dragged the teenager along for a bit of bucketing....
It was raining when we got there but the track dried about 75% and it was negotiable....ish
The lad said....its a bit wet so I pulled on the leathers and got out there.
    Others had wets.....
I had slicks and a set of road tyres....'the man' said it was just as slippery with roads and not to bother.....
Well it wasn't too bad...started off slow and then thought " what the hell" and went for it....
Bike was fine and I practiced getting arse off seat and clamping the tank with other leg....
Teenager sat in van listening to 1ZM and eating Sally Lunnn....said I looked a lot better than last time.....
I was going great when suddenly on the pit corner the world moved and I heard the grinding of metal......
Slid onto the grass and quickly got up.....yep...pretty good but my hand is wicked sore....
gear lever was bent.....knee slider had new marks on it....
Gear change was jammed solid...... off home then....
Placed my swollen hand around a cool beer bottle and it improved a lot....by the 3rd application it was way better....
Later in case weather is ok tomorrow pulled off clutch cover, popped selectors back into position and sealed it all up.....Declan gave me a hand too...
Did a RCA ( root cause analysis) of the hand and it was the lack of clearance on full lock between the tank and the bar....ouch.
Maybe tomorrow will be fine as I'm all keen.

What bike and what bars? If it's an FXR and you've done that stupid upside handlebar thing you need a slapping

Depending on the track, slicks in the wet aren't that bad, I've won races in the wet on them

I drilled and tapped a 3mm thread into the streering stops and put a cap screws in to adjust the steering stops. The spare LC clipons I fitted had no clearance without it done.

Upside down FXR bars are horrible and the wrong angle. Have thought about putting a longer bolt thru the top triple clamp and a spacer under it and see if it works ok to lower the correct side bars on. Never got around to it as the clipons work good and have survied many crashed

My knee sliders have seen the track many times......mainly crashing too mate

I did the flippy bar thang....then fear of a Kickaha slapping made me change them back....don't actually need low bars...elboe does same job.....
Apparently you can do run and slide on Mt Welly track its so slippery....I asked if I should use my almost new Bridgestone road tyres...." don't bother ....the slicks will be better"
The track had wet bits but the slicks only stepped out once....

What rims are you using? Still FXR?
Tylers bike had FXR rims and we just used front GP125 slicks front and rear. Have got Impulse 2.5 fronnt and 3.0 rear now with GP125 slicks and front wets on the standard wheel.

If you can find some Impulse whells its a easy conversion, Can give you sizes of the wheels spacers you need for the front. The rear fits straight in, just need 10mm or so off the rotor mount

Still using the FXR rims.... I've heard about the Impulse conversion but haven't really looked into it.....dosh is going into classic racer at the moment....Buckets are just a bit of fun.

Correct rim widths are a big impprovement, otherwise you're better running GP125 front slicks on the rear as well, I only ever ran the bars in the stock postion
