IF you are wondering what happened to deus ex machina they have moved and changed their name to YSB york street bikes in Newmarket they are behind the sugar bar on York St newmarket http://g.co/maps/d4bky incase you need a fix on old bikes
i find the location and the interior design a lot less cool than at shed 5 . only beer they serve is 660ml lion red and dont do decaf . there's less bikes and nice waitresses on display what a downgrade
cheers psy i was meaning to find out what happened to them
I thought the whole concept and atmosphere was brilliant. What happened?
..you can't make a living on atmosphere... In the time its been open I've purchased...a few cups of coffee and lunch with Bender...who was more interested in the staff than the bikes...
I never made it to Deus, I never made it to Shed 5....will I make it to York Street Bikes?
It seems that the guy who owns the land is real motorbike enthusiast. He got the Deus franchise from overseas but then went alone. He is developing that block of land so the move was needed. The whole idea of a place like that is the availability of parking and Newmarket is totally impossible at the best of times. If the venue could be shifted to Volty's or Max's sheds it could be a real success. Good parking, interesting projects constantly happening, instant coffee & liquorice tea..........
I agree Unna, I went to deus a number of times for coffee, lunch and it was always busy...parking was a pain but that got better when they bought all the parks in front, it would be great to have a decent bike place with coffee etc in or around the city...not sure newmarket is the place
parking not an issues if you ride ya bike
Who does that? I thought bikes were just a conversational item. Daughter is setting up a coffee cafe & roasting business in Ellerslie. Plenty of space, lots of parks, easy to get to but no bikes to display ( apart from their Triumph and Vespa). If we all donate a spare bike maybe we could replicate Deus. Or maybe it would look like a bike graveyard.
LOL!!....how about you get them to allow a space behind a window so we can use it as a workshop....let the public watch the monkeys play......
I have a couple of bikes i could park outside, where in eleslie is this cafe?
In Kalmia St just beside the overbridge to Ellerslie shopping centre. Opens in mid Jan ( we hope).
Its time that Trends had some competition...I worked for a firm that went there a lot....was great to start with...but the menu never changed. The old Gasket Spec shop...?
maybe if they gets some bikes to display from bftp then maybe they can create a bftp roast....
