Would give them a sound footing financially....but I cannot help wondering if Ducati will lose some of their mystic and become a bit bland?

"Been pretty bland since they went belt drive imho..although I'm bias." nah, that happened when cagiva took over completely, the 89/90 900ss that I have is sometimes considered to be the last real Ducati, the later ones (91 onwards) are far more civilised with lots of japanese bits, eg kokuson ignition & mikuni carbs.

Piss off, the last real Ducati was a Bevel, they stopped making real Ducati when they went to rubberband bikes
If you want an uncivilised rubberbandy bike then the F1 would be it not a SS

Yeah, but who wants to pay the silly prices they ask for F1's, especially the early ones with the heads off a 500 with small valves, resulting in only 62.5hp. (claimed)
Even the 1988 750 sport has 71hp at 1/3 the price

Piss off the last real Ducati was bevels built before 1980...they went soft after that with padded seats and electric start. Real bikes leak oil and are kick only.
apparently Audi are going to expand the VW factory in China and make the air cooled models for the local market.

So now the gearboxes will be as crap as the electrics ?

"Real bikes leak oil and are kick only." so that xs650 I had was a real bike.. (yes I know they have electric start, but it never worked for long..)

So Ducati's & Kraut boot warmers aren't real bikes either..

I would quite happily as they're not exactly hard to upgrade and especially if it was one of the better versions like the Laguna Seca, Montjuich or Santa monica
Even the 1988 750 sport has 71hp at 1/3 the price
That's probably because it's about 1/3 as interesting
