Great weekend at Taupo...cold but the rain held off.
Fun on Saturday learning the track..... I was expecting a mint surface but its already looking like a Jnr Puke goat track in places....generally the places you wanna go.
quite a few 'offs'...mainly on corners....turns out its from going to fast on cold tyres on lap one....
Today was good, bike stopped in mid field on the warm up lap and I got a ringside view of the bikes...... Trustme gave me the fingers as he want past.....nice
I got to see Kane in action and he was hot on the heels of the green frame 750 SS ( later the SS was binned...) and the Manx Norton.
They had 'track parades' after each series of races, not a race but if you let the rest go on a bit you can....catch up.
Kane and I swapped bikes and his was fun, just knowing it had race compound tyres inspired confidence to lean it over.....
After Kane said he was going to pass me but thought he'd better not as it was not a race.....
He like the handling, steering, ATE BRAKES, the power out of corners...lack of star washers etc..
His one was felt smaller as shorter and no fairing, with lots of punch.
Later in the morning Trustme and I swapped bikes and I had a blast on his flat tracker.....way cool fun as no one can pass as the bars take up 1/2 the track.
Finished in top 10 and with a few DNF's the top 5......

Bloody great weekend. I think both Volty & I were completely at sea on the first practice session but way cool little track when you get the hang of it . Someone needs a lesson in tarseal repairs. One of our bikes ran faultlessly all weekend .
Enjoyed the thrash on Herman, the 2 bikes are like chalk & cheese. Winston is vibey, quite stiff riding, but nimble. Herman is very planted & stable but turns slower so less able to change lines, more grunt out of the corners, shit back brake but really nice gear change & light clutch.
Gotta unpack now & run my eye over a possible new project in the garage.

Short track. Heard about builders houses & mechanics cars, well this is a sparkies bike.

i was a bit put off by the tarseal repairs you mention when there in the past as they are right on the racing line as i guess you would expect..........not mentioning any names but..........reliable sources tell me those patches are made of some special compound and actually offer as much or more grip as the rest of the track..............eh Jase

Track 2, the one without the long bit, probably to suit the 350's. I mainly used 3 and 4 with the odd bit of 5th briefly.

Hmmm did I replace that blown blade fuse I wrapped with domestic fuse wire.....apparently not....

Track 2 is awesome, especially on a lower powered bike, although when I was up there it was not long after the track was finished and the surface was mint, it's brilliant for Buckets to

We run as part of the CMCRR , classics are 63 & before. Volty & I run in post classic which is 75 & before. Winston is a 76 but the model was introduced in 75 so it qualifies. The Ducati 900 ss also qualifies so we are taking knives to a gun fight . All in all , bloody good fun.
