    Hi all
It has been a very busy 3 weeks for me and Tyler, Tyler made the selection group to try out for the RedBull Rookies Cup 2013

    http://www.redbull.com/cs/Satellite/...01242963846505

    http://www.circuitomonteblanco.com/

So I had to get tickets to Spain for the selection at MonteBlanco Circut (70km from Seville) so he can be there on 9th,10th and 112th Oct. As luck would have it the Mettems were going to the WSBK final at Magny Cours so I got Tyler a flight over with them, Dan is racing a KTM690 in the European Junior Cup (EJC) support race, and Jake Lewis from Chch is racing a Kwaka 600 in the SuperStock class. Avalon Biddle will be there as well she has been racing in Italy on a 600. Daniel Plaisted (Nick Coles mechanis/pit bitch) is being Dan M's mechanic and will be Tyler's minder to travel to Spain for the Red Bull selection. Simon Crafer (he works for EJC as rider trainer/coach) will be there and will sort Ty a pass and Ty will stay in the Lewis's camper or in Simons van or motel

Ty flys out of Auckland tomorro to Paris, Paris site seeing on Tuesday, Travels to Nevers (5km form Magny Cours) on Wensday in the mettems camper, 5 days at Magny, Dan P and Ty do a road trip (about 5 hours) with Simon C on Monday to Toulouse, fly to Seville and stay Bollullos Par del Condado for 3 nights. I got accomadation 2 kms from the track. A minor problem was that Dan P's nz drivers licence had just expired before he went to the UK, he wasnt planing on driving there so it made getting rental cars a issue for the RedBull bit. A few ( well heaps) of emails with a spainish taxi/transfer company sorted getting them from Seville to Bollos D p C and back to the airport.

About 100 young racers wiil do the selection, and they take 15 or so from them and some do another season, they use Metrikit Pre GP125 race bikes for the selection. The Rookies cup use KTM 125GP (detuned) bikes. They all get a ride under the watchfull eye of 4 very experinced GP experts on the 10th and hopefully Tyler will make the 11th testing day.
If he gets in next year will be very busy, The RedBull Rookies Cup is held (well this years is/was) as a support race at 8 rounds of the MotoGP, all on matching KTM125's (this year) KTM250 Moto3 4 strokes (detuned, 10h, down on Moto3) next year

So there hasnt been much BFTP stuff happening lately, Ty has got a senior dispensation to race 125GP, but cant race anything else (his 125 does 200+kmh) till he turns 15 in November. He wants to race my LC350 and TZR250 after Nationals next year, BUT he will hopefully be racing a Classic at the Barry Sheene Meeting at HD in a month, just trying to sort os bike for him, he can race a 350 4 stroke or 250 2 stroke pre63 bike at the mo.

I am fairly sure I have retired from racing...........................

Will be great to catch up John, bring your son and get some more pics of him on race bikes.

Well Tyler is 4hrs into his flight to Dubai, wonder if the whole plane thing is wearing off yet

Was good catching up with Dadpole at Manfeild today, for a easy day at the track I still ended up busy,

Sounds like i will be racing at the Vic club final at taupo on the SS150, the "Battle of the Dads" rematch is on against clive Banks/Clivoruis, Vic club pres. I beat him 2 out of 3 in March, we are both very rusty so it should be a good race meeting

Tyler didnt make the Red Bull team, I am very proud of him getting to be one of the 106 world wide that made it to selection. he is young enough to try again next year too, turns 15 in November

He left Seville 30 minutes ago, to Madrid, then Dubai, then Auckland and anight with the Hassens. I get him from Napier Sunday arvo, all ready for the 1st day of new school term on Monday......................

A few days to get over jet lag then off to HD on Friday (4 day weekend in HB) to race Ray Haywoods Red Devil Racing 1960 3TA at the Barry Sheene, think his number is 249 (still has Avalons number on it?)

What Max said mate, to make it to that stage is bloody impressive and i sincerely hope he's going back next year. Keeping in mind that his dads finances need a break too.
Hope to see you guys at HD.
Maybe we could be his old farts pit crew???

Sounds a great idea, Team BFTP Triumph.

Yep, already thinking about next year, Simon C said if there was more time Tyler could stay at his place and do some 600 testing at Aragon. Dont think Ty is ready for a 600 yet but on a closed track under the watchfull eye of a Kiwi racing legend I dont think it would be a problem for some quiet testing. Lots a 125 time to do before making the jump to SuperSport bikes

The Triumph will be great fun, I will get Ray to send a pic of it and post it up. Will be staying in a camper with Des Hunt, a photographer from welly, looking forward to a fun meeting.
Sorting out Nationals and all the guff that goes with it, did 4500kms in the van down south last year, was a tiki tour via the Catlins on the way to Invercargill and West Coast on the way home. Will be alot more expensive this time, 125GP are a tad more full on than StreetStock150,
