Triumph Classic Festival 2013 is going to be at HD first week in Feb. Triumph NZ are the Naming Rights sponsor for this iconic annual event, the 34th event. Plans are underway to bring Ron Chandler the Triumph Works rider and his F750 Works Trident to the Festival. Ron and this machine won the last International Race on the Works Triple, at Rouen in France in 1973. This race was nearly 40 years ago, which shows how young we all are getting. The Triumph Sponsorship is a partnership between the company and the NZCMRR. The Festival will have a Triumph Riders Track Day on the Friday with three groups of riders on the track during the day, plus the full range of demo bikes will be available for demo rides to enthusiasts, club members and the public on Friday, Saturday and Sunday. So make sure you book on-line for your track time and demo rides as this is going to be very popular.
When did it change , when I last spoke to Chris it was still Puke unless the track upgrades made it impossible & it was too early to tell. From a personal point of view Puke is a shit hole, track rougher than a billy goat track & shit amenities , I won't miss it, I'd take HD every time. Edit / just seen the CMRR email
I guess it was only a matter of time, despite 'winning' the V8's back, Pukekohe's been in decline for some time.
So is this just the ''Triumph'' classic Festival....or the CMRR Classic Festival we have all been going to for more than 30 years ?...?
from what i can find on goggle both are on, a week apart
CMRR have decided to go all mod and get an event organiser. Triumph are the sponsors as there are plenty of potential punters there....pretty cool having a British Bike sponsor..... maybe they will lend me a Rocket 3 to fang around on .....
So next year it could be the Vodafone Classic Festival....or McDonalds Classic Festival ?
The McBonnie: Extra large Dunlop flavoured buns with a 650 grams of sub prime beef Lucas carrot, and dripping with a Castrol flavored sauce. Comes with warm can of Lucas aide. The Mc Norton: much the same but costs more and is usually unavailable but deposits taken.
Nothing remains static, entries were down, same old volunteers doing the donkey work. Either crank the event up or continue to whither & die, they chose to crank it up . Works for me
I think the mixing of the Classics and Post Classics is going to be a winning formula......although tire warmers should be banned....
although tire warmers should be banned.... A pair of Tartan blankets over the tyres are all you need aye
Nothing remains static, apart from Triumphs with dead gearboxes and pushrods...
lol on "mcbonnie" and "mcnorton", volty!
That's a pity. I'm sure HD will be more "professional". But I enjoyed the amateur laid back atmosphere. I liked being able wander through the pits, chat to folk. The actual racing was very secondary .Being herded into a stand to watch unidentifiable bikes in the distance doesn't really appeal.
I don't think wandering thru the pits will stop.
