Does anyone remember the technique for decoking a four stroke engine with water injection through the plughole. I've done it a few times in the past and my father used the trick regularly, but it's been a few years and I can't remember if it was as simple as the garden hose down the plughole. I have an idea you need to set fire to something first , but I may be getting confused with decoking two strokes. I do remember it produced a great fountain of filthy steam out the exhaust. Be very very sure not to be facing anywhere in the direction of Mum's washing line ! DAMHIK. Anyone remember how it's done ?
i buy a product called quicktune for outboards from the boat shop squirt down carb run for 30sec turn off soak start up clouds of smoke then run untill no smoke but have a look here http://www.aquamist.co.uk/vbulletin/...read.php?t=577
Down the intake works - pour in as much as it can take without stalling. For cars you can use one of those upper cyl lube bottles that drip into the inlet manifold to good effect.
You can squirt water directly into the vacuum nipples on each intake runner too, while running the engine at reasonable revs. Don't get too aggressive with the water, or you'll stall the engine.
Why not simply use Caltex Techron fuel and you never need to decoke?

Good stuff. So it is just the garden hose down the intake, no need to set fire to anything, I must have been thinking of two strokes. Thanks everyone
