Draggged myself away from the keyboard and took the BMW to Hampton Downs for an ART day yesterday.....jeepers it was hot.... got in lots and lots of laps and experimented with lines, braking and tuning points. Big thanks to Brian Deadman who gave me a bit of one on one coaching and Alister for passing me on the mighty Yamaha smoker........ Might drop the gearing down to Taupo gearing for the Classic Meet in Feb. Newsflash: Puke is going to be finished soon and the AMCC are having the first session on the reworked track.... Its not a race day and you start of in Group 1 which I stayed in for 3 meetings. Anyone interested? http://amcc.org.nz/home
What's it like for novice novices, like me? Is Group 1 full of guys on big jappas hanging off the seat? Or is it ok for a 50 year old on a stately airhead looking to learn something without being scared shitless?
I did one of these a while ago. I found Group 1 is ideal if you haven't been on the track before, it had mostly people in their 20's & 30's on pretty much anything. Groups 2,3 & 4 are for the faster riders, just chill out & have fun.
is it ok for a 50 year old on a stately airhead The guy on the Triumph Triple I passed outside on two corners probably no longer thinks of them as 'stately" I thought the same when I first went along but its fine and they soon move the Stoners and Rossis up to group 2.
Just saw this on the main forum on a " Playday" Looks pretty stately huh? http://clmintiepix.photoshelter.com/img/pixel.gif i wonder who it is....
linky not working old fella..............try this one.......... http://clmintiepix.photoshelter.com/...004aJ8vm1PPBU/
Quite a few 'offs' in the photo sequence. I wonder if they had had any form of coaching or is it just a fang it track day? The one with two bikes looks like the hairpin......tip in early....go wide....exit stage right.
