Well the R65 has done 7 months of daily commuting with almost no maintenance..... just before Xmas the clutch started to slip and the tranny started to complain, odd as I don't work near K road. I got the Guzzi running well enough to take off the hoist and start of the R65.....three days of commuting by car had strengthened my resolve to get it going.....a day on the scooter confirned that 200cc was not enought to cut it on the motorways of NZ's engine room. By now I stated to realise that I must be the first in here since 1983 as all the bits that get put back on were still there..... Original German BMW grease....Concours Judges would give me points for that..... Check out the Groovyness .....mmmmmmm Nicely polished rivets and the judges would never even see them.... Good thing about having a racer one is 'spares'..... Scope creep has already set in....I've go a list.... Grease Swing arm bearings..... new drive and shaft oil....... oil change and filter......its never ending..... I'd like to G/S it but need a nice set of spoked wheels.....
removed and cleaned the swingarm bearings, greased them, cleaned down the final drive with brake cleen. Fitted the swing arm, brake shoes, wheel and lh muffler.....then the brake rod......f$$ken brake rod........ took off LH muffler, removed wheel......whoever put a 120 on it needs a boot as its a pita to slide past the brakes..... " time for a cup of tea"
John you must have finished your cup of tea by now .... how is progress on the bike?
Slurrrrrp.....yep finished.... Rode it to work for last two days, clutch is nice and light ( compared to Norton) and gearchange althought still a bit notchy is ok. Should be good for a few months of commuting.
