Clinton, this is the weekend of the Classic bike show in Manukau, which several of us will be attending. I am keen to do the ride but not this weekend.
I'm out too. Classic bike show with Rhys and folk festival on Sunday. Monday looks like another ride and next week will be in Hawkes Bay.
The day look a bit suspect, the weather forecast wet, and i set out to the autobahn, figuring that if it was wet there, i would head home. Got to the autobahn and it was overcast, so with the wife on the back and only a harley in sight decided to risk it and head out. Got to Waiuku and had to make a detour as the main road through the township is under construction, ended up going the wrong way and ended up at a black sand beach ( by Castaways event centre). Spent a few minutes there and headed the right way to the lighthouse. If you like twisties, narrow roads and death defiying riding, then this is the ride for you, and only under a hour away. Some stunning views even though the cloud and rain were moving in. The rain didnt reach us untill we were on our way back just past Waiuku and then it was only light. The motorway heading north was packed so got off at Takanini and went past the classic bike show, was going to have a quick look but thought that most people would have packed up and gone by 2pm. Did about 230Km today, a nice little ride.
Pity you didn't call in. We only started packing down around 5pm . . .
I got home at 6:30 and got soaked .....
