Max Found this. He rang me. oh dear. Good news is that its complete, only 2 owners, and 23k mils Bad news is its seized and in poor overall condition. Planning on giving it a cut and polish it and chase that Trustme around the track.
You have way too many toys, I could relieve you of that one. Just helping.
'71 ? Pretty original, and lots of good things on it....except that ugly rack. The breadbox doesn't look so bad this many decades down the road.
Also got a haul of Champion Spark Plugs, Amal carb bits including a pair of chopped monoblocs, some new Raydyot mirrors and Renold chain link kits in metal boxes, which according to Ebay are worth bugger all and I'll have a shed full of shit to clear when I'm 80. At least I did not get the Barry Manalow , Richard Claterman records....left them for Wendy. Was tempted by the semi apart BSA M20, BSA B31 and 20's Sloper.....that were mixed together and all over the place...
Its July 72, been heating up the head/plugs to get them free, may take a few days. Tank looks good inside. Any tips on freeing up seized motor?
Wendy about to find 1981 sausages......or worse That will buff out. Fresh eggs in the morning. Low Milage for a BMW , probably on second rebuilt engine. Last turned when the Springbox Tour was on....
Is this a deceased estate where the husband was nagged to death?
Lashings of WD40 into the bore for a week, then a good belt with a block of wood & a 3 lb hammer.
Its like having Edward Turner sitting next to you.... There is a huge spoon collection that my appeal to you Mr Unna, one for every town in NZ.
Spoons? I would get nagged to death and someone would make "shed finds" in my workshop.
It's almost like a deceased estate, except that the old guy is still alive. He has to move out soon, and is trying to get rid of his accumulated shite . . . .
M20's, B31's, Sloppers - not somewhere in Otahuhu is it?
No...and no sloppers either
Day 1: Kickstarter stuck and wont go down, motor seized and sparkplugs stuck tight. Got some CRC penetrating oil and freeze stuff. All the outside nuts and bolts freed up nice, the head ones took a bit of heat, but the freak'n head does not want to come off. I've had lots of Triumph training at the track, one I check the BMW tyre pressures I kick back with a cuppa and watch the master pull clutches, heads, all sorts to bits. Took the clutch apart and that freed up the kickstarter and the gearbox seems to work ok. Its a strange experience working on a British bike with washers under nuts, no chisel marks, parts are not worn out... Tried a small jack under the head.....it said " Bugger Off" lifted the valves and squirted lots of oily stuff down the bore. You'll keep till tomorrow.
It'll be a 10 stud. It's only a copper gasket... cast iron, copper and alloy shouldn't grow together. Or do those ones have studs? That'd be the problem then
