Eicher Motors own the rights to the Royal Enfield name which is why the Indian made bikes are Royal Enfield now rather than the previous Enfield. They have now got the Vincent HRD name and plan to make uprated and modern Vincents using a Lamborghini designed V twin. Whether it will be any better than any other V twins available now remains to be seen. At least the clutch ( described as being a solution looking for a problem) will be redesigned and maybe being made in India the bike will be affordable. I can't imagine the V.O.C being happy as this may tarnish the exclusivity factor. The guy I sold a Black Shadow to years ago went and paralysed himself with it and I have had mixed feelings about them since.
Got to be a April Fools joke with this level of research: Now, the ever-growing Madras factory, owned by Eicher Motors Ltd, has reached across the waters to Birmingham once again, claiming the name 'Vincent-HRD' as its own, and announcing its intentions to produce a new V-Twin to rival all others. Birmingham is nowhere near Stevenage. Like saying the Beatles were from London.
The owners of the Vincent HRD name were based in Birmingham. They also had previously owned the Royal Enfield name and Enfield wanted the Royal bit. That's why they went to Birmingham again. To buy another name. The old Vincent factory in Stevenage has been preserved. Not because of Vincents but because it was one of Britain's oldest breweries.
Well blow me down with hot tandori..... washed down with a Kingfisher, I'll be.
Giving the Vincent a bit of curry ? What would the 2 Phills think ? Phill Vincent might have got his wish....he was teaming up with Indian to make Indian/Vincents.
I'm washing down the day's dust with a Kingfisher. Or two. Nice brew it is too
Make sure you recycle those cans back to India. Vincent will need them.
If lotto ever works for me Patrick Godet is going to be one of the first people I talk to, his Egli replicas are just gorgeous. Not made in India, either.
