If you go to www.aliexpress.com you will find LS2 helmets that sell for just over $100 NZ with free delivery. A friend just bought one and says it is the best helmet he has had. They come in a range of colours and are flip front.

Was your friend wearing a cork lined pudding bowl previously?

I have a LS2 helmet in which the padding has shrunk to the point that it flops around on my head ... a fast glance to the side results in a twist and vision in one eye only. Yes I know, one eyed!!

The lovely Mrs Headroom acquired one a few months ago, and is very happy with it so far. She hasn't however tested its protective capabilities just yet . . . . .

I recently bought a Caberg but it is really noisy and fogging up is a major issue. My previous helmet was a Shark which was cheap and cheerful. I am experimenting with sound deadening sewn into the balaclava. I do wear custom made earplugs and fitting a Windjammer is not an option with a flip front.

Waring earplugs and the helmet is still too noisy? And I though I was the only person with that complaint!

Most riders have that complaint or are too deaf to notice. I am about to sew sound deadening and sound sponge into my balaclava. I had my expensive earplugs custom made in the Hearing Centre and still have issues so I will post what happens. Rude people have commented on the decibels from the Skorpion but riding briskly has all that noise behind me.

During the last weekend I decided I had tolerated the shortcomings of the Caberg helmet enough. Too much fogging up and way too noisy. I didn't want to modify the helmet and being a flip front had limited options. So I bought a thermal balaclava from an industrial supply shop and a roll of sound deadening from Jaycar. I pulled the sponge inserts from an old pair of ear muffs and got to work. With the sponge against my ears and the sound deadening cut to a circle outside that, I sewed a circle of material around the outside. The balaclava looks like it has a pair of flat buns sitting against my ears. I wear custom made plugs anyway but the result was bliss. Silence...... No buffeting, no noise and way cheaper than a Schuberth. I bought a bottle of anti-fog ( Spit) from TM and gave the visor a good going over. Brilliant. Rainy day and no misting. Problem solved. The helmet holds all this tightly against my ears and the sponge makes it comfortable.

I sprung for a Schuberth as years of working in loud environments, and a Motorhead concert at the Hammersmith Odeon have taken their toll, I found long distance riding fatiguing.
I also got the headset, not so that I can communicate as I bought a bike so as not to do that, but to listen to music and the big plus...directions!!! on 1 Direction but road ones.
You self employed types could probably say its for work...

I get a tirade of instructions and directions when in the car. I don't want them on the bike as well. I will enjoy the silence and read a map or look at the GPS when I need to. I had a helmet speaker when I spent 6 months riding around the USA. I have never listened to a " Someone Done Me Wrong" song since. The music stations in the mid-West are something else. Silence is golden.

Just when I saw that that Yacht racing bloke was on 2 mill a year I thought.....thats bollocks.
Then see he's out spending on Ducatis...... good to see our tax money being spent wisely

The reality of that yacht racing bloke is he comes from a family with property investments that have nothing to do with yachting. The taxpayers got a healthy return on the TNZ investment because of him. Some mealy-mouthed amateur from the Herald is inventing news rather than reporting on it. Hence the phrases "is believed to" ( by who?) "is reported to have" ( by who?) " is understood to have" ( by who?) and thus avoiding litigation. The true facts are a lot different. He has earned every cent the TNZ directors offered to pay him. Trustme went to school with him. The photo in the Herald is the Suzi XR69 he is going to race in the Classic I.O.M TT provided he qualifies. Croz has got 130hp from it now. Google Suzuki XR69 for details on these bikes. And watch this space.....
