The Hawkes Bay guys (and girls) always put on a good event. Could be worth a visit, BFTP monthly ride or not.
Are you involved in the running of the show Mark? We have a tentative plan to come down on Friday in the motorhome.
full on , static diplay 2 morrow in hastings , Friday pickup deliverer bikes , sat/sun at show plus running bar at club Saturday a/noon from 2-30pm... u what to park van up drive way
ps over 100 on club ride to ypuk today!
Sounds like a busy time Mark. There is now question mark on the trip as today I managed to crush my left hand and it may not be up to driving far. I will let you know the outcome later in the week.
I will not be coming down Mark as driving with only one good hand is probably not very smart.
perhaps an other time
Good write up in Old Bike mag of the Mail Run.
Good to hear, will check that out. I finally made it this year on my girder 16H. Apart from the dynamo falling off and landing on my foot 10 minutes short of Taupo on the return leg, we had a faultless run there and back.
Heaps of photos have been and are being added to our facebook page

Thank you to everybody for your invaluable assistance in making this the most talked about motorcycling event in the country. The feed back that I have had today, from people from all corners of NZ, has been nothing but positive. We have had a great review by the Hawkes Bay Today newspaper with more to come in the local weekly papers. I don't know how many of you are aware of how far some people had travelled to make it to the show. I spoke to groups as they arrived and welcomed them to the show asking them where they had come from. The furthest north was from the North Shore in Auckland, there were at least 4 groups from Taranaki, at least 4 from Wellington and the Lower Hutt region, and one couple saying they had come from Blenheim!!! The Waikato and Wairarapa regions as well as Manawatu were represented, with the members of the Manawatu Classic Club showing their support. Gisborne and East Cape and Thames Valley were also there. The Vespa club arrived en masse from various areas as did our own local clubs such as Bay MC, Ara Toa, 39 South, Hawkes Bay Harley, British American Motorcycle Club, Wairoa British MC, the list goes on.... We thank them all for their support. As well as visiting our show, a number of these groups came out to our club in the late afternoon for a BBQ and refreshments and were blown away by our clubrooms and our hospitality. Thanks to those that took time away from the show to make this happen. This coming Saturday 12th July is our annual 'Ringo Starr' ride to Taihape. Meet at the Fernhill/ Taihape Road intersection at 9am for a departure time of 9.20. Back up again for this year will be provided by Yvie and Denise and I would ask that you bring a donation on the day to help them with running costs. There will be prizes this year for a variety of catagories such as; OLDEST RIDER, YOUNGEST RIDER, SMALLEST CC RATING, OLDEST BIKE and one more that shall remain a secret until prizegiving. The following Saturday 19th July is our classic only ride and also the day that the Gubbels family from Holland arrive at our club. We have a special BBQ and presentation planned for them and would ask that as many people as possible be there to welcome them. That's it from me, thanks again for your efforts with the show and I hope to see you all on Saturday for ride to Taihape. Ride safe and keep the shiny side up. Dave Rae
It surprises me how few girder fork bikes reach the market given the age and changing circumstances of a lot of the owners. So many have been restored and imported. Are they stashed in sheds with sheets over them? I am still surprised at what happened to all the bikes that filled the grids from our days or organising classic and BEARs racing. There must be a heap of bikes out there........
was a great show alright wickle, apparently a couple of dozen were up from south island, 4 clubs from taranaki, other clubs from wanganui, wellington, hamilton, tauranga and rotorua, gisborne/east coast and the wairoa british motorcycle club etc unbloody beleivable! must say, the 70's traillies were the highlight for me...oh, and the alchemy
just a up date about the show our club put on. http://www.nzherald.co.nz/hawkes-bay...ectid=11313860
