In the last couple of years a small group of us have met up at the beginning of December, first at Whangamomona and then at Ohura, on a Friday and ridden the area on Saturday, heading home on Sunday. I have canvassed the other riders and they have expressed interest in making the Okoroire Hotel our base for this year with the intention of riding the Coromandel loop on the Saturday. The hotel has accommodation for us on the weekend of December 5th and 6th. At this stage we have a group of 6 interested but it would be good to get more riders along. We will need to get the bookings in fairly quickly to maintain our spot in their accommodation schedule. At this stage we have: Rhys & Jan Hanna Hobbyhorse and interest from: Ian Dieseldick Mark Wickle John Voltaire http://www.okohotel.co.nz/ Cheers, Rhys
Pencil me in.
Sounds good Simon.
do we book our own rooms or under B F T P
A good point Mark. I will clarify that and then make note on the forum.
I have rung the hotel Mark and they now have us down as the BFTP group so bookings will be made under that name. I have booked for Jan and myself and they do not need the money up front ... pay when you get there.
I had a look and it appears to be booked up on the Saturday, $160 a night too. https://secure.staah.com/common-cgi/...Out=2014-12-07
I have just been in touch with the hotel. Accommodation for up to 10 people has been set aside for our group for the Friday and Saturday night. The costs are $80 per night bed and breakfast twinshare. When booking tell the receptionist you are with the BFTP group and also put the names down on this thread. If this is going to happen we need to get bookings in to hold the rooms pretty quickly or they will be reassigned to other people. Presently holding bookings for: Hobbyhorse 2 people
Hello HH, I'm afraid Mr and Mrs Volty are somewhat reluctant to fork out 160 Voltydollars a night as we are stingy, and it reduces the amount of pies and Lion Red we can have. However I offer a counter proposal of Rotorua and did a search for one place that offered a selection of options. Its a Top Ten but hopefully our ban has been lifted following the engine rev incident. http://www.wotif.com/hotel/View?hote...operty-reviews http://www.wotif.com/hotel/View?hote...property-rooms
That sounds good to me John, I am also into saving money and cancelling at Okoroire will be no problem this far out from December. Dieseldick and Wickle, what are your thoughts?
I'm happy to rough it in Rotovegas, so is Wickle. You Jaffas will have to travel further south though. No wucking forries??
Napier > Rotorua 219 Auckland Central > Rotorua 233
The votes have been counted and it is unanimous .... Holdens Bay Holiday Park is the winner. I guess it is just a matter of selecting the level of comfort required and paying for it .... see you there.
I have booked for Jan and myself ....
yes us too. Not tenting this year LOL.
