Belated Merry Chrsitmas to one and all, Ratbag ( on her 800 Boulevard 2011, op's that's not BFTP Material) and me on my Bandit attended the Boxing day Wanganui Cemetery Circuit. Didn't see ya young John, nor Nick and Wendy but I did read that they achieved a few things of note (bike racing wise that is) over this last year and placed well overall.
Been 4 days in the saddle and got sore bums, but had a ball. Been to Wanganui, via the Para para's, on to Palmy for the night on Friday, then over to Hastings on Saturday morning and over(Via the Gentle Annie, this time we made it all the way through without an old bike breaking down as did our poor but beloved Eliminator last Easter) to Taihape and the Taihape Motel for the second time this year.
Got to be a BFTP ride destination this does. 2 minute walk from the Taihape workingmen s/RSA club, plenty of open eatery's and oh so quiet tucked up behind the main drag and opposite the railway line.
Yesterday, back on the bikes and up the middle for a quiet but cold ride through the Desert road with 4 first time Desert road riders, they had a ball, as did I using almost 1/2 of the bandits not inconsiderable handling and outright speed abilities to cover some very good corners, drops and sweeping roads to great effect.
So Happy New Year you buggers be good to get out for a ride with anyone left standing soon.
The Coal Burner is still alive and well and under my continued custody, can't let her go. Starts easy runs well, and oh so much fun around the extra long block without the necessary stickers for absolutely legal riding, still insured and on hold.
Ride safe you old buggers, hope to see some of you soon.
