hey all just brought my black beast she's eveything I thought she'd be ,supermodel !! now I'm from a moto-cross background and we are alway's tickerin with set up's so to anyone out their would appreciate any hot tip's although this bike is already a little rocket. I'm 105 kg so the first thing I'm doin is a back spring , got hold of Robert Taylor and also went to the Race-Tech website in US , you can dail in your weight and it will advise wot spring is suited to you ,stock spring is 8.1kg. From what I could calculate this is ideal for a 75-79 kg rider ! I need a 9.5kg so check ya 6 pack (fish'n'chip supplier) ! Will give you a ROAD or RACE option I choose inbetween. Robert Taylor has to get ya spring they don't sell to the public , round NZ$300So thats a start , he's also mentioned that the shim's in the front fork's should be done , and rear shock if ya fourtunate enough to be close to my weight these would be a great mod.I took out a blue 06GSXer 1000 From TSS in the hutt which had been shimmed up with a back to back ride on a black 07Gixer1000(stock) and noticed how spongy /soft the front end felt straight away.the back will sit down if the spring isn't right and cause the front end to rise up and misbehave especially when ya wanna tip her in to the hot zone CORNERS ! well hope that's been of some help some where you can also go to the forum dicussion's under suspension and Robert has posted up an explaination there and contact details .As for power mine came with a stage 111 pwer comander/suzuki tri pipe/filter all tuned in I think my eye's are expanding buy the mm every time I get home already so might leave that one .brake's I can only think braided will be a help but have read that they can make the feel abit woody , new master cyclinder is the shit , but I think there pretty good standard , especially after me little lady 97 VTR1000 . OK add ya thought's !
Yeah..I also have a K6 thou that I bought new and Im 98 kg. I always thought the rear was pretty good standard settings standard spring-but then Im not much a fiddler and I dont ride THAT fast lol! The front end has never been a problem either, Ive had 280kmh on a road surface in average cond. with good tyres and the bike felt safe as. I think the new GSXR's are a revelation after 20 years of riding the ol' aircooled tanks LOL!!!
I went from a 2000 VTR1000 to the K7 GSXR1000, and the handling is just like so much better. I`ve been giving the suspension a few tweeks with a bit of help from some posts on Gixxer.com.
