Waaaa!!! I broke the shaft of my 25 year old hoe yesterday. I guess they weren't really built for levering out old shrub roots after all? Never mind. Half an hour in the garage with vice, saw, plane and cordless drill and it's as good as new. Better than it was infact ... if about 10cm shorter.
Sucks! I lost all my really good gardening tools when my marriage went splat. I was the gardener, but the tools were his Grandfathers, and the ones that weren't were important to me, so... Tools are not made as they used to be, or perhaps they are, just they cost such a huge amount of money, to reinvest in quality tools is hard to justify sometimes. Nothing worse than leaning into something and have it bend.
Niwashi tool. I thought it looked a bit gimp a first but soon changed my mind after using one for weeding. Good for planting small stuff where you might use a trowel.
