Blast From The Past Annual Awards This is something I will put my hand up to maintain. Important Notes: 1, The eligability for awards starts from January 1st through to November 30th 2, All bikes or riders voted upon must have completed at least 1 run within the calendar period 3, All bikes and most likely riders voted upon must be pre 1990 BFTP Annual Awards BFTP Hard Core Member of the Year Most runs completed (or at least attempted ) during the calendar period. BFTP Hard Luck Award Sob stories, mechanical grief, theft, heartache, spills, matrimonial property settlements and stuff we need psy for. BFTP Saint of the Year For all the out there. Has another member saved your arse? Helped out with hands on, or just good advice? Lent you tools (you'd have to be a saint) or got you unobtainum parts? And generally for those things you think are above and beyond the call of duty. AND NOW WE COME TO THE AWARDS FOR THE BIKES BFTP Best Original Best original bike can be a pristene restoration, or an unmolested factory bike. But let's remember this is a rider's group so well used examples and ones that make plenty of runs should be taken into consideration as well. BFTP Best Restoration To be eligable the bike has to be pre 1990, the restoration had to have started after January 1st and completed at least one run when finished within the eligability period. Restoration can, and usually does involve customisation, and this also should be considered. BFTP Most Unreliable Are they always stopping to tinker at every rest stop? Did they end up getting trailered halfway through a run? Did they not even make it to the meeting point? Vote for them with sympathy And that is the awards as they stand. As this is a democracy I am open to any and all reasonable comments and suggestions regarding these awards and can go back and edit this initial post to reflect any changes. Voting Voting forms will be sent midway through November. It will be a cut and paste your votes type form, then sent back to me via PM. All votes will remain private. Voting is open to all BFTP members. Voting is to be only for those bikes or riders that match the general and award specific criteria. One vote per award per member. Awards After voting closes December 1st the awards will be announced. Winners will recieve notification via PM. Winners are asked to post a picture in the group photographs of the winning bike or bike/rider. Winners will recieve a laminated A4 BFTP award either posted out or handed out on our Christmas Run Help Wanted If your company has some samples or other freebies (or just stuff you can steal when no one is looking) that you think a fellow classic motorcyclist may like- PM me as I would like to give out a little something to the winners as well as a bit of paper. So, what are you waiting for? Crack on with that restoration. Get out on some rides. Help someone out. Or just break down a few times, you can't lose!
Sounds like a great lot of fun
Well done Dodgyiti. Very cool idea
Had to keep busy while me battery was charging.
So! She's all ready to roll eh? Well done mate. You should rightly feel very proud of yourself. It ain't many who can take on a proper restoration and inject life back into old art work. You do all bike enthusiasts proud when you resurrect a beautiful bit of bike history like that. Looking forward to seeing her in the flesh.. alongside Voltaire's Darmah and Nick's 90S
very cool, dodgyiti and thanks for taking care of it! now, would anyone care to nominate bruno for the best bastard award... on the basis that the charging system works fine when the headlight is off but not when it's on
I ll second that nomination! oh sorry I mean I'll put Bruno up for that, there ya go psy! Dodgyiti thats a great deal of work mate, if required don't forget you can sing out for a hand any old time aye.
What about the bike that always has something go wrong at the meeting point
It's not going to be that taxing caseye, I was involved with club type stuff in the past, mostly drinking and doing burnouts (usually in that order). croc- nah, got issues still. 2 steps forward and one back. Might be a few more days.
" 2 steps forward and one back." Early exerpt from the Italian guide to invasion,
yeah i know where your coming from...i completely rewired the XS to get rid of the electrical problems...now i will have to work through all the components....i really should get rid of the points.....

Maybe it doesn't have to be a full ground up restoration. Maybe my impending steering and wheel bearing replacement and recent brake line upgrade and master cylinder mods are enough to win
Think again ! crocagator man, he he he, it's at least got to be a full strip and refurbish, shirley ???? LOL.soz mate just joshing.
psy- I was thinking if you take longer than a year then it's too long and falls into the 'Legacy Restoration' like my Mk1 Which should have only taken 3 months, not 2 years If it helps, here are my 3 top tips to doing a restoration in a year or less: 1, Buy the most complete bike you can 2, Make sure everything it needs and you want for it is available 3, Make sure you have the money and venue to do it Get all of the bits you can before you even strip it down. Your restoration begins... now! If you have a bare frame sitting on the floor, it's a restoration, anything less than that is maintenance you softcocks Agree? Disagree? I am thinking of doing a full custom/restoration later this year with a one month start-finish stay tuned... Got a bike gagging for some sweet sweet man-love, you know the one. http://www.videovat.com/videos/2263/...ith-sheep.aspx
