In the description he lists an oil leak at the front of the engine.
Any ideas what it could be, and what is involved?

I hate the exhaust, but otherwise finding it mildly enticing.

Comments? (other than Suzuki biased etc)

I need a 2-up machine, the g/f is getting left out a bit lately and nothing else I own is any good with a pillion

My unqualified guess would be that the lhe leak could either be running accross the cooling fins from the cam end seals when the bike is at rest ($20 + a couple of hours) or a small O ring in the middle under where the tacho cable enters (between the cylinder block and the head) Less dollars but more labour)

Personally I'd go for one of these.

The last one is being sold by a BFTP member (Steelrider)

Cheers croc, I thought it might not be much.
I am going to have to sell my beloved SRX in the next 5 or so months and buy another daily runner, but capable of Auckland- central NI 2up.
Want to have a good look for a suitable bike before the weather and prices pick up because I will need it definately after November, maybe sooner.
My tenants are moving out end of the month, and I am going to fix up the rental and my place and cash up and f*ck off out of Auckland to central NI.

Steelriders does not quite have the comfort factor, the beautiful one has too high kms, have already bid on the bagger, and will go see it this weekend.

I am open to all suggestions,

Edit: My buget is 3,500 tops for a Jappa, bit more for some class, and it better be low km for that too. No projects, turn key or a few little fix-ups is ok

dodgy, that gsx in your first thread cant be an '81. probably 83-84 the earliest. the oil leak would be easily fixable regardles of where it might be coming from.
but if you're looking for a two up long distance comfort i would definitely go for something with a decent fairing.

as for turn the key on and go, uhm i don't think you're quite that type of guy, unless you buy something new you'll always be tempted to fiddle and improve it. i mean, i've been to your garage, i've seen it...

Ha! Wrong psy, my daily runner is always a turn key bike. I hate working on, or even washing the daily runner. I can get a fairing for the one I listed for free. Gosh, I'm even looking at BMW's
There is a white one locally I will take a look at tomorrow, because I wanna look like a

Thanks caseye, had a CBR/F, good bikes and comfy.
As for the other one... Hmm, might have to get a half face and bandanna

if you're not in a hurry, i'd wait for an FJ to come along. there's probably more resources and parts for it out there than for any similar bike of the '80s/90s. not to mention that i'd like to have one myself, lol

That's good advice, but lower km ones are nearer $5k

psy, FJ's give me the nervous ticks, especially the ones in my price bracket. The older ones have a habit of dropping 2nd gear without much warning and it's a friggin major to fix. Seen a few do it, seen a few of the repair bills too.

Voli, talked to the guy with the R100 (after a few PM's with Max for advice), he is pretty adament he wants 4,500. If only it came with the barn door and that is pretty much top dollar for a bike with saggy tits.
Been advertising it for a while too, still not softened enough to pounce yet.
K100RS are not bad bikes, I have done 160,000 on one and it was trouble free except if you hold it past 240 for too long it blows the electronic speedo. Cha-Ching!
It has bags and ABS whatever that is.

I have to make a sensible choice, I have enough trinkets, it's time for a real bike

The bagger you bid on would be excellent value up to your 3.5K cap. Wonder what his reserve is. He has had it listed before and from memory his previous buy now was around $4K. Have you gone and seen it yet?
  14. Dodgyiti
    Dodgyiti
Yes I have seen it, pretty tidy. Not up for paying any more than 3,500 though. Comfy bike. Still have to look at the R100 in Cambridge, saw the K100RS locally, not really inspiring.

I thought you were going to take the Lemon touring....thats real adventure riding....
I rode my Ducati from Sydney to Adelaide via Broken Hill and back thru Melbourne......mind you that was before I was told they were lless than reliable.
Do K bikes come with slippers and a flat cap?
