This closes on Saturday and already has met a good price

I am a fan of these big singles, all the good points the Pommie bikes had but with total reliability. My own Yam 400 harks back to when this SR500 was the cool inner city weapon. They would never match the smokers like the RD bikes, but they sure kept going when the RD's et all were heat seized and flogged.
Easy to fix, light weight, at least 3 oversize's from std so you can keep rebuilding them, and trail bike 'thrashability'
Sure the top end and charging system was a little suspect, but it was not too expensive to throw in a new one.
I always liked the four stroke chookies my mates had when I was a poorly apprentice and could only manage to 'just' keep my PE250 running. And the street version (SR) was the hot tittie magnet for an 18 yr old.

Apart from the worn paint on the tank, this is a little beauty you would be hard pressed to find better.

I love it, and it's red.

There are not too many differences between this and my one which is the very last of the line, main difference is mine has no kicker. Had to be, I got a gammy leg ()otherwise I would have a classic one instead, and you bet it would be pimped out!

i owned an sr250 from new and then when i was ready to sell it i took a SR500 for a test ride and a XJ550 for a test ride....ended up buying an XS650.....i actually liked the SR500...but it only had kick start and i thought that was a backward step......
